Sounds amazing. Less is more. I need to start practising what I preach.. but its so hard not to go mental with all the unlimited tracks we have at our disposal in all the daws now. Amazing work. Love it. get it released yourself.

I suppose you just have to put limits for yourself and stick to that when you are surrounded with unlimited options. That same principle applies to life in general :) It's just a lot easier to move forward when you have fewer things to consider.

I really am grateful for all the videos on the akai as i have an s3200xl but my only problem is do you chop before putting into akai or after or both as my attempts at chopping phrases, whole breaks or just a snare for example have been off the beat. Thanks for showing the art of sampling beats although i think i have a way to go before i am happy with my results. Again thankyou for your patience. Peace, André.

I always chop my breaks inside S1000. I did, in fact, have a s3000xl for a while, and it had this weird chopping situation, when it sort of was loosing some milliseconds from the chops and when played back it felt too chopped, didn't flow as organically as with the S1000.

create your label and release it on beatport i think its like 60s euro one time to create the label
@IJOSoundVideo4 ай бұрын
Nah, I don't like Beatport. I might, though, but I prefer Bandcamp, and accompany my digital releases with a physical merch like tapes. Vinyl would be the best, of course, but it is an expensive affair, and it takes way too much time to deal with all this by my self.

Aaaargh! Why don't you mention any of the other gear? Is the Korg also functioning as a midi controller?
@IJOSoundVideo4 ай бұрын
Hey. I did in fact said a lot more here, but after seeing most of the footage was completely out of focus, i cut most of the stuff out, as i didn't want to re-record it, too difficult. I use microkorg mostly as a controller, but i also sometimes use it for making samples with its amazing sounds, and sometimes i run it as a midi channel for additional melodies, if i feel like i need to add something to the tune. Generally it's just an Akai S1000, running all 8 outputs in to the soundcraft folio fx 8 mixing desk for live mixdown. Pretty much it.

Another great video and tune IJO, I love watching your videos man, especially the Akai based ones. The tune reminds me of some real late night pirate radio station stuff we used to get back in the day here in the UK. Takes me back to driving around London at night or listening to pirate radio in my bedroom as a teen and not sleeping, knowing I had school the next day. This brings back fond memories man, thanks for sharing!

Thank you !! Making music with hardware is easy and not so much at the same time. However, i generally believe, with computers, being able to do anything, at the same time, computers kill the vibe for me. Back in the day, with analog technology (generally everywhere , both in film .music..) coming up with ideas and techniques to present something new was always a challenge, but a good one. With computers, though, you can do literary anything, and that is boring, isn't it ? Hardware requires commitment, which yields different approach and results.
