In this vlog discover Trois-Rivières in Canada with me
I’ll show you around Saint Quentin Island and we’ll take the Charlevoix Train
Saint Quentin Island:
I advise you to go to this island
To do this you have to leave the Cogeco Amphitheater near the Esplanade Trois-Rivières and go towards the Duplessis bridge which leads to a first island, the Saint Christophe island which is of little interest since it is mainly a golf.
From there a small road going to the right will divide in two after a while, on the left it leads to Caron Island and on the right is the bridge leading to Saint Quentin Island.
If you go by car there is an entrance fee to pay
If you are like me on foot, the walk lasts 40 minutes from the Amphitheater to the entrance to the island (without photo break), but it is not at all pleasant because it is parallel to the cars and it's not very pretty.
But the visit to the island is worth it
Indeed, once there you will come across small sandy beaches.
A little further on the right (after the beaches) a beautiful shaded path will take you to a wooden kiosk (you can see it when crossing the Duplessis bridge)
This Kiosk is the starting point for a beautiful immersive walk in the heart of the forest on a very long wooden pontoon which will take you to the parking lot at the entrance to the island.
It takes about 8 minutes to cross
I advise you to bring back peanuts (whole with the pod) because a bunch of curious squirrels will approach you and even birds have come to my hand to peck pieces of peanuts that I had crushed
I didn't have time to do the other half of the island but just for this part I advise you to go there.
The Charlevoix Train
To go to Baie Saint Paul I took the train from Charlevoix to Quebec
Bus 800 from Palais station (30 minutes) towards Montmorency Falls to “Des Rapides” station
Then there is a 30 minute walk, it is not indicated at all, you will need to study the map beforehand or have a GPS
(for information, once in the park you have to go down a very large staircase of 484 steps which is right in front of the waterfall)
The easiest way would perhaps be to get there by taxi (only 15 minutes)
Since 2001, this tourist train has been offering trips to towns along the Saint Lawrence River over a 125-kilometer route.
You have to choose a seat, either on the mountain side or on the river side because the train runs very close to the river.
There is a member of staff who regularly comes to tell us the history or an anecdote about a place
It’s superb, I recommend it
