In this vlog discover with me the Sphinx and the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt
We will enter together inside the Pyramid of Cheops and see the Pyramid of Chephren and the Pyramid of Mykerinos.
The Pyramids of Giza
There are 3 main pyramids:
Khéops (Khufu) the largest: 146 meters, that of his son, Khéphren (Khafre): 143 meters and that of his grandson, Mykérinos (Menkaure): 66 meters
Imagine that the Cheops pyramid was the tallest monument for thousands of years until the Eiffel Tower came to knock it out in 1889.
They date back more than 2500 years BC and at that time they were covered with a thick layer of limestone, which made them smooth.
Moreover, you will be able to notice that the pyramid of Khafre keeps this layer at its summit.
I advise you to come early in the morning (opening is at 7 a.m.) you will benefit from the warm light of the sunrise and therefore you will avoid the tourists because afterwards it is crowded.
The Pyramid of Cheops
The entrance to the Cheops pyramid is through a very small hole upon arrival in front.
Then, once inside, you have to go up a huge corridor with your back bent because it is only 113 centimeters high.
Then we arrive in a narrow passage with an immense vault called the great gallery (9 meters high, 40 meters long with an inclination of 26 degrees).
Its endless steps will lead you to a room without any decoration with an open and empty tomb since its mummy has never been found, it was surely looted a very long time ago.
Apparently the queen's bedroom can be visited but it was closed during my visit.
Honestly it's expensive for what there is to see but I will still encourage you to do it, just for the spirituality of the place and the energy that you will be able to feel in the center of the pyramid when you stand. placed in the middle of the burial chamber.
The Sphinx of Giza
Further you can admire the Sphinx
To get up close you have to go down to the temple "Khafre´s Valley Temple", this is where the entrance is.
I was surprised because despite its 73 meters long, 14 meters wide and 20 meters high, I found it small.
Imagine that until 1816 it was buried in sand.
There are many legends about the disappearance of his nose.
Some say it was Bonaparte's soldiers who fired a cannonball, others blame the Mamluks (a colony that occupied Egypt), others say it was a Muslim cleric and others say even that it's Obelix, but that's another story.
In any case it has never been found even though it is said to be in the British Museum in London.
It is also said that he had a beard (like some pharaohs), but this is unfounded because there is nothing to prove it.
In any case, a must-do visit!
[Travel carried out only on foot and by public transport]
