Dang, doing an IH!! I still have the 936 Versatile sitting here waiting for you and your expertise.... Looks good!!! We've made a lot of pieces to fit.. had a roll of grey cab foam. Don't remember why, but used it in a lot of cabs. Pre made kits are so much easier!!
@iafarmer3 жыл бұрын
Yes the precut kits make it real easy. Its amazing the sound difference in that cab from when i drove it home!

Nice work on the interior of the Ol' 1466. It turned out pretty nice especially that cowling area, probably better than factory. I'm sure back in the day when that tractor was new that Deluxe Cab was great compared to the older cabs IH had on their tractors. LOL Thanks for sharing. Take care.

Very nice job! Not much louder than sitting on top of an old IH rear end, especially with a “cab.” That’s why most of ours are open station. How was the drive back with all the new insulation? Did it make much difference?
@iafarmer3 жыл бұрын
Thank you, yes it was much quieter. Hard to believe but that little foam makes alot of difference.

So much better. I like these videos watching the difference between old and new. How’s rain fall out your way?

That had to have been fun working inside that cab cleaning and replacing all that interior. Have you got any rain the past few weeks??
@iafarmer3 жыл бұрын
Yeah its always an experience being in other people's cabs, im pretty sure half the dirt in there was from the 70s lol. I had to go on vacation apparently because we got 1.8 total while i was gone. Was in st louis twice for layover flights actually so wasn't far from you

@@iafarmer glad you got some rain. Hopefully it will help you. I’m about 65-70 miles from the airport. You should have got a taxi and came out. lol

Everything looks so much better, should hold us over for pollination anyhow. It was only about an hour layover each time but i thought about it lol

Great job! Not used to seeing red machines on your farm though. Has your family used multiple makes in the history of its operations?

Thanks. Yeah this is a guys that i haul grain for. Yes mainly red on both sides until the 70s on dads side. My moms dad had a 4010 gas but that was the only jd he ever owned. Last ones he had were a 986 and 1086. Beleive there was a couple Minneapolis molines on my dads side at one time

The one thing IH lacked was a good cab, till Case bought em. I wouldn't mind a 1466 for a wagon or haying tractor

@@iafarmer yah, they are still bull gears in the 14s, the 15s had planetary rear ends on em
@EDBZ283 жыл бұрын
I gotta say...you are not afraid to get your hands dirty... you transition a cab from it making your skin crawl sitting in it to being able to sleep in it if ya needed to. On a side note, I’d like to know what made a farmer back in the day looking at let’s say a JD 4430, then looking at a 1466 and saying “I guess I’ll go red”. YUCK
@iafarmer3 жыл бұрын
I agree, mustve really hated the post in the john deere or been a die hard fan of red to buy one of these. Good tractor but if you wanted a nice cab this wasnt the best option in its day imo
@EDBZ283 жыл бұрын
Haha. IH really stepped up with the 86 series. My family has been primarily Deere since 1967, but in 1981 my father traded his cabless 4040 for a new 1086 with premium cab. I must admit, it was a beautiful tractor in its day, still not as pleasant to run as a 4440, But my father (1086 w/5btm ih plow) would lap my uncle with his 4440 and jd 5 btm plow consistently.

@@iafarmer My dad got prices on a 200 allis, a used 7050, a 1066 and a 4430 in 74. He bought the 200 and figured on a bigger tractor later. Dealer wanted the 200 off the lot because he knew the 7000's were coming. I wish he'd of bought the 4430 but at least he didn't buy the 1066😆
