What a great video. Interesting to see the “State of the Art” equipment. They definitely made some good engines for the time. Thanks for sharing your video treasures.

The great historical film collection continues. A gentleman in MT (y/t Engels Coach Shop) is running an Allis-chalmers Fork lift. Perhaps he would do a short video of the unit. Have a great day!

Good lord what a guy wouldn’t give to have some of that tooling. Hard to believe wasnt but 10 or so years after this IH was belly up. Just goes to show what labor unions and poor management can do to a company.

More management than any union
@Oliver66FarmBoy2 жыл бұрын
Unions are just as bad or worse. The 1979 labor strike at IH didn’t do the company any favors what so ever. The jackasses think they can walk off the job for months at a time to protest for higher wages or whatever the heck suits their fancy at the time then they throw their arms in the air when the company goes belly up or moves overseas. You look back the through americas industrial history and unions have cost this country billions in lost production.

@@midwesthunter5354 The last strike probably didn't help anything.

Wasn't just poor management and labor unions that caused IHs demise was a long list of other things as well

@@Ihfarmer1066 Well start naming the list then of the things that don't fall under labor problems or bad management

That's a new word to me. Engineology
@TonyM1322 жыл бұрын
That is a good one, but "enginery" is my favorite new word from this video. It's a combination of "engine" and "machinery", I guess.

Too bad IH died. I have a 129 cub cadet I plan to restore I think 1973. I feel Kubota is the modern Allis Chalmers the l3301 is the best Kubota tractor ever made. In my opinion Kubota may not have the soul of an Allis Chalmers. But they would look similar if Allis Chalmers still made tractors. I wish Allis Chalmers tractors where still made. I say neck to neck with each other with AC and Kubota.

Did the narrator actually say enginologists at about the 1:00 mark? What the heck is an enginologist?

Plenty of power, too bad they didn't build the rear ends strong enough to hold up under it LOL:) That and the cab and controls were atrocious LOL:) OL J R :)
