I know exactly what that mushy hair thing you are talking about. I would compare it to using nair on bodyhair (on more course hair like underarm hair) and the hair would be so soft it gets a bit slimy like old alfalfa sprouts.

Thank yoou!!! You have no idea how useful this video was for me!!! Im from Brazil and i've been learning a lot about hair with american youtubers, but i never understood the term protein because it doesn't make sense in portuguese, even translating it, but now that i know that it helps when your hair is quite elastic, I GOT IT! thanks! and your curls look so cute! xo

It's always a delicate balance between protein and moisture. If your hair feels like flexible steel -- it is protein overloaded. And if it's too mushy (when wet) then it's too hydrated.

Hi hun thanks for the vid. Very clear now. By the way Aphogee is great - it is NOT a conditioner. The ORS Mayo is a light protein conditioner. Aphogee is a deep heavy protein treatment. One should NEVER comb their hair or even touch it when Aphogee is in it. The label clearly states this. It adds so much protein that your hair strands are almost frozen in a glass like state. Once your hair is saturated, leave it on for 30 mins, it will get hard like glass, after 30 rinse it all out with water don't touch or massage the hair. Once it is all out, deep condition with a heavy moisturizer for another 30 and finally rinse. If your hair needed protein to begin with, after your hair will feel strong, sturdy and healthy - not hard - it should be easy and smooth to detangle with a lot of shine when wet and dry. I made the mistake on my first try of not moisturizing after and combing while it was in and swore it off for 2 years. Now its my go to. Love it. Worth another try if you dare.
@chrissynole58789 жыл бұрын
+BitterSwt02 Also I used the Aphogee moisturizer only -- because I had protein overload. It worked Wonders on my stiff dry protein overloaded hair. Then once that was rinsed out, I used a conditioner/strengthener to add in "light" protein. And my hair felt like hair again!! yeah
@thaliapeart96775 жыл бұрын
How long after using aphogee did your hair stop breaking or did you see results? My hair sheds at the slightest comb and it ends up coming out in chunks. I used aphogee protein treatment once then braided my hair. After I took the braids out it was still shedding like crazy. I just want to know if I should continue using the product. So how long after use did you see results?

I deep condition my hair every two weeks, I wash 1 week condition and then rinse out after 20 minutes and then put in a leave in conditioner then the next week I would co wash then I will put in a leave in conditioner then the next week after that I would wash and then I will put in a protein and I use the same protein you use but for me my hair can only take that once a month that's it thank you so much because a lot of people get confused about moisture and protein and when and how to use it thank you this was very good advice

Very nice video. Thanks for the clear explanation. Like so many ppl I researched until my eyes popped out the difference btwn moisture DC and Protein DC. And not only did I feel dumb bc I didn’t understand, (even though I read over it 5 times) but I had to look at other articles, to try to fill in the missing pieces, of course to no avail. So I gave up and came up with my own idea. Your video helped confirmed what I speculated and it was educational without being overwhelming. Thank you.

I absolutely hate the ApHogee two-step treatment with a passion. I tried it twice. The second time I got protein overload and my hair started to break off. And I'm not even really protein sensitive. Use protein all the time, no issues. I used that and my hair got pissed off. I'm gonna stick to my cholesterol treatments from now on.

I have Caucasian hair and my hair (after bleaching) will feel gummy with severe damage or looks like wet ramen noodles just out of the shower. Lack of protein has a very distinct feel... stretchy and will curl up when wet... if your hair ends come to a point at the end of that wet noodle like curl, then it's started breaking off at the ends. Regardless of the type of hair, I think it does what it does because of the lack of protein. Very informative video.

I had put the ORS hair mayonnaise and my hair is so soft and silky and the shedding stopped. I was getting ready to do a relaxer but I put the mayonnaise in first to protect it somehow I left it in my hair about an hour. I was so happy my hair felt so smooth and soft I waited on putting a relaxer. I also put in a hair mask and left it in as a leave in mauii hair mask. Now I need to know what bases are to not burn my scalp. I was just going to use Vaseline and I only leave my relaxer on 10 minutes for new growth. I love your curls I need to care for my hair more. Thank you for the tips I'm trying to find a deep conditioner that actually added mousture.

Thank you so much, you explained it in simple terms. Unfortunately, I've recently experienced the dreaded "protein overload" My naivete lead me to believe that any protein rich, keratin rich, silk based product was good. Thank you for this video! It was very very helpful. I have one quick question though...I hear a lot of people say that you should do a protein treatment after relaxing, do you agree with that?
@KimberlyHolden10 жыл бұрын
YES!!! I definitely agree with that one. When you relax your hair, you are weakening your hair, so the protein treatment will give some strength back to it. Sometime I will use the conditioner that comes w/ the relaxer, and then just use my protein spray after, but sometimes, if I feel like I need a little more strength, I will use my protein conditioner INSTEAD of the one that comes w/ the relaxer. (I hope this helps) :-)

Hay Kim first off congrats on making it official with Mamacita blessings to you both. My hair question is I'm trying to find 2 product lines that will give a good balance it is getting costly trying all these products and I'm just trying to get to BSL and right now I'm at collar bone length. I was thinking of just getting the protein and moisture line from Aphogee and be done with it but their moisture line has protein in it too and I don't want to get overload on either side protein or moisture. do you have a moisture only line that you would recommend that includes deep conditioner shampoo and rinse conditioner ? Also I watched your loreal total repair review and girl thank you so much for that cause I love that deep conditioner but it's also protein based 🙄 . TIA

@Shea3548 жыл бұрын
I would, personally. I would start using the protein once a month and either stay there, or increase how often you do it, depending on what your hair tells you. I can do them about once a month. Sometimes twice if I plan to use heat. All the other protein I use comes from styling products. Those are lighter on my hair and I find I don't need to do a treatment nearly as often if a few of my products have protein in them. BTZ has a wonderful protein cocktail spray. It's at Sally's Beauty Supply.
