Just call stalling like he should have. Williams should have had 7 stall calls and the worst part of it is they hit Swiderski with a stall call early in the 1st for no reason.

@@erichvonmanstein8980 "Like he should have" is the current rule, and it is too subjective. Stepping outside the cylinder is an objective line the ref would not have discretion to call a point. The rule should be, if the wrestler steps out, his opponent gets a point. That takes away from the current nonsense of running to the edge of the cylinder as a strategy for winning

That ref had a person in mind he wanted to win.. ot shows the way he officiated the match. Swidwrski was asking for blood time in the second, but never was awarded. Fleeing the mat in the second, never noticed. No takedown in the third, and everything goes to suit! You "shut up bro", get skilled on the sport of wrestling.. not calling someone out for being right

The ostate kid should have been hit with multiple start infractions on the neutral start.....it's not the referee's job to instruct the wrestler that his foot isn't on the line, that in itself was a form of stalling by not being in proximity of the opponent at the start whistle. I hate to be critical of the official, but that match should have gone into ot to determine the winner. Clearly stalled and fleeed the center of the mat.

The primary reason you don’t have better officials Is because parents chase them away in youth developmental leagues. Refs have to learn the skills and that takes practice. By definition, mistakes will be made. But who wants to deal with the verbal abuse, and sometimes physical threats and physical abuse from parents of 8-10 year old children? If the parents want better refs, go volunteer and be one. There isn’t a single referee, in any sport, in the armature levels doing it because the money is good.

Williams wrestled a very good match until the final minute of the 3rd, but it definitely was not reffed the same. Williams took 3 shots in a row in the 1st and Casey got hit for stalling, same thing happened but the reverse in the second and no stalling for Williams? I don’t think the takedown out of the scramble in the 3rd was a takedown, Casey still held the ankle and was moving out of the postion when called, and no matter the situation, if a wrestlers goes out of bounds backwards, it’s stalling 100% and I think Casey should have gotten one more stalling at the end, but it is what it is

For me, I put some of the blame on the coaches for not calling a challenge. I understand that sometimes officiating we focus on other things such as reversal, safety, etc. Things are missed unfortunately, and hence why there is a mat assistant. There was a failure on the officials missing the locked hands, then failure on the coach to call it. The match would/should have went into overtime.

Then an injury, which to me looked like he mouthed "I just broke my collar bone (now whether that's what happened or not who knows... but that's surely what he thinks just happened). So up 5 pts with an injury and 1 minute left, the opposing player finally decided to try and turn it on for 60 seconds... and came up short. Terrible officiating! No takedown in the third, led by a potentially dangerous call when he os getting taken down?!? While he is asking for injury time??? That ref was obviously wanting someone in A certain color singelet to win!! 🤬

This was a pathetic showing of wrestling by Williams, and frankly coaching by Smith. He couldn't beat the kid, so don't wrestle him, just stall. I hope the NCAA implements rule changes to give much more severe penalties in the future for kids that do exactly what Williams did in this match.

Hopefully, the NCAA implements rule changes for the unnecessary roughness and lack of composure Swiderski showed in this match too

Casey shouldn't have been down in the first place. It's the rules.
