Exquisite work, as always. Your magic stitch tutorial is a wonderful resource. My daughter used it to learn to do the hand-rolled hem on her silk chiffon graduation dress last year. Something I find helpful with silk chiffon is to lay it out on a large wool blanket before cutting. The roughness of the blanket means the chiffon doesn't just slide away, and there seems to be some helpful static/attraction between wool and silk. You'll have to use scissors, though, not a rotary cutter.

Oh that's a good note! I'll have to try that next time.

The way the chiffon ripples around your face with the weight of the beading! 😍 What a lovely and loving gift. 💜

The veil looks beautiful. I really hope the recipiant likes and appreciates the work involved to make it. I do beaded jewelry so I'd like to suggest putting a cloth on a tray underneath where you're beading in case you should drop a bead or, Gods forbid, you knock over one of your containers. That way you don't have to, as I have done many a time, crawl around the floor on your hands and knees, and a flashlight looking for all those little beads. Especially size 15 beads. They're the worst. Once many, many, many years ago I dropped a whole tray of beads onto a shag carpet. I made the rookie beaders mistake of putting all my beads out on the tray, then got up to take it to another table to work, and bumped into someone. Oi, that was fun (not) and I never did that with beads ever again.

Wow, Stunning. You, mi dear, have the patience of a saint to do all that beading and the fine silk. It would've driven me batty, especially the silk. I have enough issues with fine cotton or linen trying to scarper 😆 I love your jewellery and accessories box with adjustable mirror. Just right for storage and events. How on earth do you manage to pin the veil without stabbing yourself in the head?

I love how the weight of the beads affects the drape and movement of the veil. Beautiful painstaking work! I like that magic stitch, I use it to hem lightweight skirts and blouses. But I find by the end of the project I'm taking huge stitches because I just want to be done with it, lol.

Important info::: The area you have your hands in the frame is exactly where subtitles go- at least on mobile. I couldn't hear you very well, despite my volume being pretty high, so I turned on the subtitles.... and then I couldn't see what you are doing. Since this is a video, I opted for the option where I can see, over being able to 'hear'. Just figured I would mention that.

Please forgive me. The vail is beautifully done and a lovely piece of work... but the whole time I was completely and utterly distracted and obsessed with the thing that is possibly a honey or syrup dispenser of some kind for your tea!???? Please if you see this comment and have time tell me what this magical thing is called. I need it desperately for my own tea and would be ever so grateful if I could know what it was and if I could get myself one. I have multiple cups of tea daily and all of them have honey in them... I desperately desire this magnificent dispenser of enchanting tea enhancement magic.

Here's a question for you: how DO you find grain on squidgy silk? Do you pull a thread? Rip it? I haven't ever been able to find an answer to this question. Usually when I'm working with chiffon or charmeuse, I just follow the selvage and hope for the best, but I tried that method on my own beaded veil (aka the "butt veil") last fall, and failed. So. Hard. Also, marking the width on your finger with a sharpie...A+. Absolutely effing brilliant. And thank you for showing us how you put the veil on with the pins! Seems like a simple thing, but I never quite knew how they were supposed to work...
@OpusElenae
@OpusElenae Жыл бұрын
If you cannot see the grain (with this particular chiffon, I can), you can gently up two points apart. If it’s on the bias at all, the fabric will stretch. If not, that’s on grain, and you can mark those points with pins. Rotate your fingers 90° and do the same thing til you feel no stretch. Now you have your warp and weft grains and you can make sure to iron and starch them on grain

I don't remember seeing your hair down before but it is gorgeous and astoundingly long. Your jewelry box is no dainty little thing, just love it. It was great to see how you applied the veil. Do you have a specific kind of pin for the veils and headresses?
@OpusElenae
@OpusElenae Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I don’t usually wear it down because it’s so hot here. Any reasonably long pin will do; I’ve used pearl and glass headed sewing pins before. If you want something fancy, I actually sell veil pins in my shop, or there are tons on Etsy too!

This looks amazing! The loops look like a great way to have the visual effect of something hanging down without experiencing as much of the... dangling. And it makes everything drape so nicely! As a side note, at the time I watched, there seemed to be a couple of lines missing from the captions just after the 12 minutes mark.

Hey Courtney! I was wondering if you might be able to do a hair wraping tutorial for midieval hair? And also maybe show dimensions/make a headwrap/headscarf? I cant seem to find the type to completely ecase the hair myself to purchase. All I can find are the 'modern' triangle ones to tie over the top of the head.... Many thanks!
