Thank you for confirming there is an error on the final step. Cisco should be more careful when wording these questions.

Thanks once again Christian. I really wish CIsco or my university would correct these errors. Makes it very confusing for students like me.

in part 5 in step 2 why did you put /128?
@romeroc2410 ай бұрын
because only one host will use a prefix 128, a subnet is a group that will use a subnet of 64

I dont get why at 19:19 the subnet mask 255.255.255.255(/32) and 255.255.255.240(/24). Which is the server's mask? Great video by the way, thanks!
@romeroc24 Жыл бұрын
255.255.255.255(/32) means to point only one host, not the subnet, not the group, so you can point and create the route to only one host

Hi Christian. After performing the configuration (100%) and shutting down the int s0/0/0 (on ER or ISP1) in order to perform the verification as you did @ 17:50, the IPv4 ping from the PC-A/PC-B towards the server fail, whereas the IPv6 pings succeed. I'd like to inform that I have configured the next hop IPs using the real interface IP addresses instead of the interfaces (as performed by you). Thus could this be the fault of pings not reaching to the SRV via the floating static IP? P.S. I have also added the "ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 s0/0/1 5" as in your vid to ER, currently having the routing table indicating: "S* 0.0.0.0/0 [5/0] via 10.10.10.5 is directly connected, Serial0/0/1", but the IPv4 pings still fail. Also have restarted the PT just in case, though with no change. If you have any ideas on where to check further, I'd be really grateful! Thank you in advance!

Static routes are configured round trip, so you need to verify that you need a floating static route from Edge to ISP2 but also a static route from ISP2 to Edge, the problem is there is still a static route that is trying to go from ISP1 to Edge (down link) and should prefer the route from ISP2 to Edge

@@romeroc24 Hi again Christian, I've redone from scratch the PT according to the one performed by you and compared the output on my version vs yours. While configuring the floating IPs on return from ISP1 to ISP2 I've mistaken the incoming w/ the outgoing IPs (i.e: ip route 192.168.10.16 255.255.255.240 10.10.10.5 5 instead of ip route 192.168.10.16 255.255.255.240 198.0.0.2 5). My questions are still: 1. Strangely how PT has count 100% even w. the incorrect IP config of the interface? 2. After the proper modifications, I have selected simulation mode to check the path of the ICMP from PC-A/PC-B towards the SRV and back. I don't understand one thing: the ping from the hosts reaches the SRV, but while returning back through the SW (ISP_LAN), the SW always forwards the ICMP reply just to ISP1. Can you please explain why the ICMP RE always goes from the SW to ISP1 and never to ISP2?

@@damasta.md.99 The problem is the Customer User Server, it can be configured with only one default gateway, there is no possibility to create a second backup gateway, only on real lab or GNS3
