These are great recipes, but I think to really stay close to the $5.00 (or closer to $10.00 these days), you need to do a bit of planning. Decide which meals use some of the same ingredients, so you can use them more efficiently. For example, if a recipe calls for 1/2 cup of heavy cream, find another one that also needs cream so you don’t end up wasting the remainder of the carton. If you have 2 or 3 that call for broccoli, buying the larger bag is usually cheaper. Just a thought.
@martinmade082 жыл бұрын
This is true. An idea with the heavy cream is turn it into butter with your mixer. That’s what I do. Our butter is $6 for 2 cups (or 4 sticks).

Larger bags aren’t cheaper anymore in most cases. Whipping cream can also be frozen for later use or made into ice cream or coffee beverage too. It makes a great cheese as well.
@orangebpumpkin56762 жыл бұрын
Where I am larger amounts of Potatoes or cheese are still cheaper. I agree about making a meal plan for the week and then using stuff like eggs potatoes and cheese in multiple recipes to help bringing down the prices. But Food prices do seem to be rising really quickly so it might change.

I would 86 the carrots and add some of that left over salsa to the tortellini and maybe use less water to make it thicker.. sloppy joe = cup of ketchup, dollop of yellow mustard, splash of acv, dried onions and garlic.. you can add brown sugar if you want it sweeter or switch the ketchup for favorite bottled bbq sauce... costs half of manwich...no cheap corn? leave it out and use corn tortillas .. mayo on the grilled cheese instead of butter or save your bacon drippings for no cost and blast of flavor.. I add peppers and onions to the sweet potato bake and serve it in tortillas, its a camp favorite in a foil pouch .. breakfast for dinner is always a good thing, I recently made a pancake in a casserole dish with sausage, the brats didnt want eggs.."Pandemonium Palace, Pops prodigious pancake" talk about ez... the casserole quiche looked really good... my favorite part of a baked potato is the crisp skin, I have microwaved them part way and then put them in the toaster oven.. an air fryer would probably work but I dont have that or an instant pot... the rice and beans is ALMOST enough to make me get an instant pot!! I like a mix of black and cannellini/white beans in a lot of dishes especially with spanish rice and canned chicken or tuna in a burrito.. mini pizzas..86 the special sauce, mix spaghetti sauce and salsa or just add a little sugar and italian seasonings to the spaghetti sauce with a tiny splash of acv... the twice baked potato casserole sounds and looks delicious, maybe the skins dont need to be crunchy for that one.... yes I tend to write a LOT at times... I enjoyed the video and got a couple of good ideas to try at pandemonium palace

Amish shrimp salad - could it get any better? Two worlds combined - seafood and traditional Amish cooking., and it can be done relatively inexpensively on a budget if you buy the shrimp pre-cooked and frozen. Just add some hot water to the shrimp and you're good to go. Hope you're having a nice 4th of July weekend. Bon apeti!

All of that to your taste. It always makes more than I need so I just freeze the rest. For my twist on the joes I take refrigerator biscuits push them into a muffin tin to make a cup, fill the biscuit cup with the sloppy Joe mixture ( with hamburger added) top with cheese and bake.
