I am part of a high value couple! We started off dirt poor together with a baby on the way... but 6 years later we are debt free (excluding a very manageable mortgage), have 3 lovely children, and make 75-100k a year together! There was plenty of bumps and the growth was slow at first, but I am very proud of my wife and family.

I woke up and realized I can do better and be better. I do agree that having a partner who constantly pulls you down is the worst thing that could happen to a person. All goals are achievable but sometimes the simplest things can become so difficult to achieve when surrounded by the wrong people. Remember, it’s Better to be alone than with the wrong people.

@@UnlimitedAspirations24 Well, we were able to replicate our success consistently, I don't think it is luck. We have a system for evaluating partners. Plus our family is morally conservative. All this sleep with a person first to figure out whether you want to have a relationship with them garbage would just get a candidate canceled from consideration. Our very first screen is "What kind of family is the person from?" and "Where is the person going with his life, career, education and family aspiration wise?" The third rule is once you find a qualified candidate, be decisive and move fast towards marriage. We have each other evaluate our candidate as a sanity check. In some other threads, I posted an evaluation scorecard we use.

This one has A LOT of great points, but I cant say I agree with all of them. For instance, at some point life will become routine in a marriage. Yes sure you can spice it up, but most times people dont even realize as its happening. Its not that they are not working towards certain goals together, rather they are in a phase of those goals that demand consistant, routine action. Sometimes, because of life challenges, its prolonged for years. This does not mean theyre a low value couple. Also the point of them always leading and everyone adjusting their schedules for them is flawed. Not every high value couple must lead in everything they do. They are not experts in every area, no one is. Rather I would say they are always a valued member of a team or committee whatever. They are able to identify when others are more suited to take the lead, and offer strong support. Likewise, when they do lead, people are more than happy to follow. As leaders or supporters they are sought out to join. There were one or two other things, but overall this was a great video

I am very happy to actually have a partner who is equally ambitious and supportive. I see couples who are just going through these block unblock games and fighting over birthday wishes, whereas I have never had a fight with him, because it always have been just an active discussion rather than argument. I would say that someone who makes you feel that they are another chore you have to handle, is not a good sign. They should be someone you should go to have good and meaningful conversations and just relax and being able to share everything and feel comfortable, sharing things.

All the best to you, Eugene. I'm definitely in the upper middle class region with high value goals and aspirations. As with you, parts of my life were low value. Over the years I walked away from the low value people in my life - family, friends. Regarding immediate family, wife and daughter, I find I must be the relentless guide, not just by talk, but by example. I won't do low value activities. I won't talk trash. When someone says or does something trashy, I'll ask, "Why would you say/do that?" I hold them accountable, just as I hold myself. As in this video, there are times it would be desirable to just walk, yet I know I made decisions many years ago, and I'm committed to them. You sound like a good man. You have the money side worked out. You have the drive to make other parts of your life better. You have the intelligence to figure out how to do that, to find resources, to find information, to really learn right and wrong. All the best to you in your journey. Keep up the good work!

As I read through and listen to this list, while I thoroughly agree with the entirety of this list, being a “high value” couple has nothing to do with how much money either party has. The truth is that there are PLENTY of “low value” couples who make a lot of money. I’ve had clients who have shared with me some pretty scandalous stories with certain couples who would be considered “high value”. All that glitters isn’t gold. In other words, you can be a “high value” couple before you make a high value. Be of high value mentality FIRST.

I agree that having lots of money doesn't automatically make a couple high value. However, a couple who struggles financially will have a hard time achieving some of those things that lead to high value. It's harder to provide for good education, diverse experiences, etc for the children and the family if money is a contention point. Agree 💯 mentality is where it starts.

I feel like I'm part of a high value couple now. My wife is amazing. She saw something in men when we met that I didn't even see in myself. She stood by me through my divorce and helped me to become a better version of myself. She got me to take more pride in my appearance, she encourages me to excel in my career. She lifts me up when I need it and gives me a reality check when I'm being unrealistic. We compliment each other because one is strong where the other is not. I didn't have all this in my first marriage. My ex actually left thinking she could do better. 4 years later she is still single and the grass was not actually greener on the other side while I have thrived without her thanks to my current wife. I wish the best for my ex, but I feel like she did me a favor by leaving.

If you stay away from the sick concept of unconditional love, and it is absolutely damaging. I've seen men and women stay in relationships that they should have left and said that it was unconditional. It is silly and stupid. Always have conditions. Respect, shared values, safety, and so many other areas. Never tell anyone that your love is unconditional. There should be conditions and accountability if negative actions thought processes or habits affect your life. Always have conditions.

As a woman, being respected demonstrates love to me. I do not care just about effort but about outcomes, and the partner observing those outcomes after his actions or mine and planning accordingly over time. Something that I have learned from past relationships is if she is going to her mother, friend, or some other dude about issues you two are having then you need to leave her. No matter what who fault it is everyone will take her side. If you want to go outside of the relationship for advice then see a couples therapist. At less they are a neutral party.

Yeah man, women love taking bad advice almost as much as they love giving it. I've seen women destroy their relationships, families and lives on the advice of others so many times IRL and it never ceases to amaze me. Often the ones giving the bad advice do so knowingly and maliciously too, but the woman never realizes it until too late because the advice flatters them and encourages them to act impulsively.

2:35 "Men don't want to be loved, they want to be respected." #FACTS This is where modern women get it wrong every time. They come at us (men) from THEIR perspective and assume we look at the world the same---which we do not. Its the rare woman who can break out of her comfort zone and learn that her man does not have to externalize his feelings to prove to anyone what their relationship is about, or their commitment to each other. That is all between them. As long as they are both showing each other respect and loving each other the way each individual respects and accepts it, then they are good and forget what the world thinks. I'm always suspect of couples who seem a bit too determined to show PDAs in public. At some point, it always seems a bit forced on the male end of their relationship. As if he knows he doesn't want to do it, but sort of has to, or she'll be upset with him. I appreciate older couples who occasionally hold hands, or I'll see them support each other in very small ways, but don't feel the need to prove to the world they love each other by hugging and kissing 24/7.
@tosin1018
@tosin1018 2 жыл бұрын
thanks for this. I am beginning to accept the fact that men don't externalize their feelings. I have always been with men who showered me with beautiful words but rarely backed it up with actions. I am currently with a man who shows love through actions but rarely showers me with sweet nothings. He tells me here and there but not as often as what I am used to. He is one of the most reliable men I ever met. I am experiencing love as an action. While I love to hear the words, I will take a man who shows love through action than the one who consistently compliments me but is unreliable and won't be there during hard times.

Prior to this, my thoughts ran along the lines of "If you're doing extremely well alone; why would you add somebody else to your Life and possibly risk it?" However, everyone is different. As someone who works retail, what is generally a tip off to a low value couple is when they can't agree on anything, bicker over small things, complain about their lack of money, usually all of those within one span of a trip to the store. Another tip off is when they'll remove food that they could ya know. eat? To put cigarettes on. I know a high value couple when they come in, their clothes are neat, they don't argue with each other over every single thing, and they know exactly what they want. They can clearly and directly tell me politely what they need and don't lose their absolute crap when I don't have it in stock. They have their stuff together, Peace out.

#12 and #13 hit home. We can sense when there's something wrong. We state our issues up front, argue/discuss, but we forgive at the end. #13, Pre Cana was a pre requisite before getting married in the Catholic faith. We learned each other's short comings/nobody's perfect, and accept them. If you/fiancé has an issue, then you do not go through with the marriage. (2 years) before taking vows.

This video is very insightful. I've never had a high value relationship, but have seen couples who do and are in loving committed relationships. I was never seen as having any value, only being a burden. Being alone is how I'm going to ride the rest of this life out. Better to remain alone than make someone else miserable.

Did anyone happen to notice that there is an undefined income range from $150,000 to $200,000. Middle class is until $150,000. While upper middle class starts at $200,000. So what is the term for families with income between 150k to 200k ? Middle-middle-class?

My relationship leaves me confused after watching this video. We seem to be neither high not low value as a couple. We earn less than $50,000 as a couple about 50% of the years yet we afforded a house with a low mortgage in the country & with decent neighbor s. We also have more assets than liabilities; th erefore, we have stuff but a not a lot of cash. We do take short vacations & don't always stay home when we take vacation. In terms of mutual goals we need to work on that. We trust each other and don't fool around but we not as snugly as we should be. First off, you always need to work on your relationship. Unfortunately, I work 10 to 12 hours per day as my employer requires it. It leaves me little quality time with my wife. We both acquired education & a degree but we can only work in menial jobs most due to our age, physical condition, and a local economy that only create menial jobs. There are very few professions in the area even if major corporations are present.
@eduncan501
@eduncan501 2 жыл бұрын
May I suggest something? Think outside your "local economy" think outside your employer. When you fix that with the education you and you spouse have, you will resolve #1 the snuggly issue and the time together issue and the income issue. I'm 57 and starting a brand new business because I was "too old to hire" now. I'm starting this journey with other men even older than myself. We are all full of life and look forward to each day. I'm about to remarry, things are great. You can do it!

@@eduncan501 My wife doesn't want to leave the area because of her daughter and her daughters children. Her daughter, my step-daughter had difficulty remaining with a man but she is getting better at selecting them & keeping them in the house. My wife is risk diverse on starting a business and I myself would only go into business if it was with multiple partners as in a chapter S-Corporation or an ESOP. I have spent my first half of my life before moving to this area working for small or mid-sized family controlled companies that often failed after the owner died or retired. Such an arrangement not only cuts my risk but keeps the business going after I retire or in one of my past cases die from a stroke while working on the job. I have tried to talk to my wife about starting a business and the consequences of working for a local corporation but somehow she can't connect the dots so to speak. My back ground in Mechanical Engineering heavy machinery design and an MBA with concentrations in project management and finance. I have some experience in project management ( very similar to managing a design build company for heavy machinery) and have spent some time in the finance industry through Primeamerica. While working design engineering I also worked as a cost estimator and did some marketing. I am 63 years old but educated, experienced, and very diversified.

I must register my distaste for and complete objection to the classification of people as "high value" and "low value." It smacks of elitism, bigotry, snobbery and contempt for some categories of people. Some of the criteria used to determine whether people are "high" or "low" value are superficial and sometimes downright dumb. Stop it, Alux! Just stop it! Over the years I have come to respect your content, but these "high value", "low value" classifications of people just get under my skin. So some people might never have had the benefit of influences in their lives that could shape them into people who make better decisions for themselves. We should all be so lucky. Others, behave in ways that are consistent with their personalities, culture, background and circumstances. On the other hand, there are some people who appear to fit the mold of what most people hold up as "high value." But if you really get to know them, you discover them to be cads and downright corrupt at the core. Now, I'm not trying to excuse bad or foolish behaviour, but it takes all kinds to make the world run. For the record, I don't believe there is any such thing as a "high" or "low" value person. There are just people. And people, as human beings trying to make it in a harsh and unfair world, are all just priceless.
