There are quite a few unanswered questions in the Dragon Ball franchise. Luckily, the series has an army of fans to come forward and theorize how certain holes in the story are filled, be it how Potara fusion works or why Frieza was so strong. Suffice to say, Dragon Ball has a lot of fan theories attached to it, some of which actually ended up being confirmed by the series itself.
Some examples of this include Akira Toriyama confirming new details about Super Saiyans or how Goku and Frieza’s fight on Namek was moving at hyper speed. In this video, we look at all the times fans’ assumptions, theories and ideas were confirmed in Dragon Ball, be it in one of the shows or by the creator himself. Yea and tacking on that Toiryama doesn't like Gohan much didn't make sense. All in all he probably was just not satisfied with how he had been writing the character.. which makes sense. He probably wanted him to be. Toriyama fucking loved Gohan as seen in the Cell arc and the fact that he was supposed to take over which is why most of the story of when the show made its returned surrounded Gohan so heavily.. just in terrible ways that Toriyama prbably cringes at himself for.

The Ki Armor theory is a great detail in the series when Goku got shot through the chest. A similar type thing happened when Krillin tossed a rock at Goku's face saying that Goku was so strong and invincible that he'd just dodge it. Instead a rock to the face really freaking hurt Goku lol. The best part? The rock toss is also a move in the DBZF game for Krillin. What a nostalgic series!

The "laser blast" that almost killed Goku was explained within the movie itself. At the beginning of the movie when Goku is training with Whis, Whis points out that Goku has a bad habit of "dropping his guard". Whis was directly referring to how Goku completely powers down once he thinks the fight is over.

It would be pretty safe to assume that laser weapon was at least on par with the ki blasts of some of the weaker members of the Freeza corps, which would be FAR more powerful than any bullet from any gun on Earth. And even going back to the Namek saga, Vegeta was able to drop his guard on purpose to allow Krillin to fatally wound him when we all know that normally, Krillin would never be able to harm Vegeta.

Seriously. It was never in question that the DBZ movies were part of the canon storyline. Most movies could have only taken place during tiny impossible timeframes. Like Gohan being "pre-Piccolo kidnapping/training" but Krillen knows him, so it could theoretically only take place between the few minutes between Gohan being introduced to everyone on Kame island and Radditz showing up there. About the Ki armor thing, there was actually more evidence of it in DBZ in the 10 days before the Cell Games began. Goku, while still in his super saiyan form from having mastered maintaining it effortlessly, took a nap on the grass when he was hanging out with Krillin and Gohan. Krillin, wanting to test Goku's awareness after being amazed seeing him still a super saiyan even while asleep, threw a rock at him expecting him to zap it into a million pieces with his eyes closed, when in fact it hit Goku right in the forehead waking him up in a lot of pain holding his forehead and understandably upset. His guard was completely down hence why the rock hurt him, just like how his guard was down when he thought he won against Golden Frieza and got badly hurt by that laser.

Toriyama was ABSOLUTELY involved in GT. He helped develop it and approved/rejected story ideas in the first few episodes. He was just burned out and didn’t want to draw DB anymore but knew the fans wanted more. Toei and Bandai didn’t steal the franchise from him in some evil greedy manner, they made a continuation based on what fans thought they wanted at the time. And it was all with Toriyama’s blessing.

As a kid both times Gohan went SSJ2 he was injured. First time in the time chamber when Goku witnessed it he was more exhausted then injured and then when he fought Cell. So with that being said how strong was this kid and it also makes your wonder how much power he really lost leading up to the buy saga.

I've always thought it was interesting that the two things that have ever killed goku have been piccolos special beam cannon and cell. Piccolo's attack and Cell were specifically designed to kill Goku. I've always thought that Gero and Piccolo somehow found a key weakness in Goku that's never been explained. I still think the best explanation for Goku's power and being the first super Saiyan in a long time is the fact that he practices the Kaio Ken. It is a technique that destroys the body when taken too far. Goku uses it to it's limit all the time, gets on the edge of death from it's recoil and then becomes stronger because Saiyans get stronger every time they almost die. Goku is unique among the Saiyans for practice a self destructive core technique.

My theory for why goku got hurt from that beam in super is if their guard is completely down, they can get hurt from the most minor of things. For example, in dbz, when goku mastered ssj and was relaxing with krillin under a tree, krillin thought he would instantly avoid or catch the small stone he threw at his head before it got near him but because his guard was down, he woke up shouting in pain

My theory was that characters might be bullet proof and lift 40 tons since Dragonball vol.1 but the rest of their defense and power is from Ki training. What if, the golden haired ssj is not ACTUALLY ssj. Consider this, when vegeta in the ginyu saga talked about super saiyans, we saw a image of a great ape-like figure with a gold glow terrorising a planet. And what gold aura covered great ape do we see in GT? Golden great ape. Don’t believe me? Vegeta has also said or referenced a ssj being heartless and merciless. And what is the downside to gold great ape? It’s extremely difficult to control. What if, each ssj form was a omen, like ui sign of ssj? That’s why ssj3 and 4 both extend the user’s hair. As it’s more hair, that could turn into fur as a ggp. And you need to break through the merciless form, you get ssj4. People say that ssj must be unlocked through rage, but to maintain it, you must be calm afterwards. Otherwise, you will flicker in and out of the form like a dying lightbulb. Ssj 4 is required to quell rage, yet maintain it in a calm state. Just like ssj4. Final thing, if a “pure heart” is also required, ssj4 would make more sense as a pure hearted version. As of which why it maintains fur and hair across the body. To conclude, maybe ssj great ape is the REAL ssj. While as I said ssj4 is the version for good saiyans.

If im being honest. Kaioken wasnt a transformation. It was a technique to boost ones strength by multipliers by removing your limiters. It requires a lot of concentration while SSGSS is a transformation. Goku never uses Kaioken with super saiyan 1-3 becauses the rage he would use would make the kaioken backfire and its also due to the super saiyan transformations having such rough energy. SSGSS has been stated as a calm and tranquil energy. There was one movie where he mixed super saiyan with kaioken but if you look closely, he was using it in bursts. Only reason Kaioken could be mixed was because he mentioned SSGSS being a calm transformation and super saiyan he would let his fury pour. SSGSS was calm enough and not such a rough energy he could focus on Kaioken easier. There is also a theory that if he was to try kaioken in super saiyan just like to SSGSS, the rage of super saiyan would pinball off of kaioken and eventually climb so high it destroys his body and he could die from the extreme power up.

The entire first arc of GT, with chibi Goku and little Pan going on adventures just like Dragonball original anime, was with Akira Toriyama on staff. This notion that he had nothing to do with GT's slow pace and disastrous plot are simply not true. Toriyama has stated in interviews he disliked the fighting and violence direction that DBZ took and wished to go back to a cute, slow paced story about demons and Red Ribbon Army generals, part 2. Then he just decided after 12 episodes that even that wasn't to his liking. And then we got Bebi/Baby. Yay us.

The fight w/Frieza after he had set the planet for destruction was more than five minutes even accounting for the fact that fight sequences were slowed down so that the audience could see it happening. Think about all the lengthy dialogue exchanges during the fight, I’ll not include the telepathic conversations that Goku had with King Kai because that could be an instantaneous transmission of information but even still the amount of time they spend standing idly or talking is more than five minutes. Also consider the fact that during those five minutes Popo was searching for the dragon balls and found them within that timeframe and Gohan was able to find Bulma, bring her to the ship, sit at the ship for a few minutes of dialogue between him and Bulma, and fly back to the battlefield. It was more than five minutes, Frieza even recognizes this saying that, “most planets would’ve blown by now but this old rock is tough, I give it two more minutes.” It was likely even more time than this. If something can happen any minute that’s just what you say, it can happen any minute maybe two or maybe five. And you just keep saying that once your previous estimation fails because it could just happen anytime there’s no predicting it. By Friezas comment that much is proven because he said it was unexpected that it lasted that long which means that he couldn’t accurately predict when it would explode. As a self proclaimed expert on blowing up planets, Frieza not being correct pretty much rules out anyone else putting forward and accurate estimate.
