The EPA Water Conference 2024 took place on 12 and 13 June, in Galway and online. Speakers shared their knowledge on how to protect & improve water quality in Ireland and showcased case studies from around Ireland.
Speaker: Lorraine Gaston, Catchment Management Technical Lead, Uisce Eireann
Lorraine Gaston is a Catchment Management Technical Lead with Uisce Éireann who is leading on the development and implementation of their national drinking water source protection approach and managing source protection pilot projects.
She has over 19 years’ experience working within the water and environmental sector, and prior to Uisce Éireann she worked in consultancy: managing large environmental monitoring programmes, water quality evaluations and drinking water source risk assessments. She worked for a time in the UK on catchment management projects and environmental assessments of water resource and drought plans for various water utilities. She has worked on projects for the European Commission, including a review of member states implementation of the second RBMP. She has an interest in emerging contaminants and completed her masters in Environmental Toxicology and Pollution Monitoring.
