I remember creating a nanochip that could detect how "off" certain foods were by a visual colouration system, the usual methods of photolithography using a silicon substrate with silver nano particles etc for detection methods of the gases released by those food types. Interesting and haven't seen it taken forward yet, especially I think there should have been a prototype ready for real world "shop" testing. It's amazing how far nanotechnology has come in recent years, the application for the carbon "nano tubes" seem endless. Great stuff.
