I think an important lesson for first time gardeners is to expect failure. Your first year garden isn't going to be perfect- you're going to learn by failing. Cathy Hay just released a video about what to do when a project stalls- the biggest takeaway for me was that you are the student, and the project is your teacher. You have to go into it with a sense of adventure, and accept that things aren't going to go exactly as planned.
