Do you have a connection to these ancient people? 🧬

Really nice video, really enjoyed it. Historically fascinating. However, I must say (I've seen your other videos. Very nice!) your physical depiction of the Celts is totally incorrect. Celts were dark haired, olive complected people like the Welsh, the Irish (before the Viking invasions) and the Basques. In fact the people of the British Isles were originally the same people as the Basques via DNA analysis, mythology, matriarchal social structure, Welsh grammatic structure, artistic ornamentation (crosses, swirls, etc) and the megalithic structures. The fair hair comes much later from the Vikings, the Picts in Scotland, and to some extent in England, the Normans which were actually Norsemen in what is now Northern France.

@@JerelGeorgesaying British and Irish celts were dark haired and olive skinned is disingenuous. Boudicca herself was described as having “tawny” hair, which meant either red or blonde. That’s before any Viking invasion. Never heard of the Irish being darker skinned but in Wales at least, there are people who still have darker, “ruddy” skin but to make out like everyone had dark skin and dark hair is highly disingenuous. If the native Welsh were all dark haired/skinned, there would be a lot more people like that in modern Wales. Especially in the north but that jut isn’t the case.

I do indeed. I have Irish, Scots, Welsh and bit of other insular Celtic. I consider myself one, though I have other heritage too. Six Nations, one soul!

how about you represent Celts accurately in you art. Wicked mustaches, NOT beards. Them were Vikings.😅
@Inquisitor_Vex6 ай бұрын
Only the Britons had a moustache without a beard and even then, only the nobles, etc.
@paulcannell71886 ай бұрын
@@Inquisitor_Vex wrong. Nobles and Druids were allowed beards. Check out the famous roman marble of the dying Gaul. Mustache and Torc. Every Greek description before the Romans described Keltoi as having mustaches, lime spiked hair and torcs. All over mainland Europe. Cool pix but Not accurate.
@Inquisitor_Vex6 ай бұрын
@@paulcannell7188 well, the Torc indicates the dying Gaul is/was a noble himself. I must admit, I thought it was more unique the Britain since I’ve heard it mentioned there and assumed that it was a difference between British and mainland Gauls. The Greek historian Diodorus says of the Gauls: “…Some of them shave their beards, but others let it grow a little; and the nobles shave their cheeks, but they let the mustache grow until it covers the mouth.” So it’s not a uniform dress code at least and there would/should be some variation.

@@Inquisitor_Vex don’t want to argue with anyone on the same page as me, we are both interested in Celts. But the everyday Celtic Warrior had mustaches, torcs and lime spiked hair. Nobles may have had more precious metals in their torcs, but every Celt across mainland Europe, Asia Minor, Britain and Ireland were all identified by torcs, excepting slaves.
