The ancient Chechen Alan people type (clan) Chianti is one of the ancient Etruscan empire tribes, which after the fall of Troy went to the Caucasus, and others to Italy, founded the sacred fortress of Chianti and directly took part in the construction of the ancient Vatican City. How did the Etruscans get along with Carthage? Or Greece? I wonder if a strong mercantile coalition between Etruscans, Carthage and Greece (with even help from Crete, Cyprus, Phoenicia and even Eqypt) would have crowded out any possible room for Rome to even get started?

Those ancient peoples traded with each other, exchanged ideas and adopted some aspects of their cultures. However, they were always wary of each other, defending themselves from conquest, and trade monopolies. They wouldn't cooperate in a type of federation, the Etruscans didn't support each other unless it was in their benefit.

If only some pockets, however small, of "pure" Etruscans (including their language) would have survived to this day, the way that the Basques (another Southwest European isolate) have done in more than just small pockets. Then again, the Basque country is that much less accessible and that much more rugged than the Etruscan country.

Interesting point. Geography definitely played a role in preserving cultures like the Basques. 👍

The voice pronounces Etruscan in two ways, one is standard in English, the other is a mistake. The Etruscan language has been deciphered, but lacking a rosetta stone Greek or Latin to Etruscan, the words cannot be translated. Personally I can read my birth language, Maltese, in the correct accent and pronunciation, so that Maltese people can understand me, but I don't know what the hell I am saying.

Indo-Europeans languages have the same roots, Greek and Latin are Indo-European languages. As for the Etruscans being Pelasgians, I don't agree. The pre Indo-European people were farmers and traders and a mix of native Hunter Gatherers and farmers from Anatolia, they had differenct cultures, and spoke a variety of languages, Etruscan was one such language, Basque another, the other languages were replaced by IE languages.
