Ross, have you tried drying any of the lower rated figs? Some of the more bland and watery figs might stand out when their flavors are concentrated. Aren't some figs grown specifically for drying? With so many varieties you might find some real winners that are better dried than fresh. At the very least you can save them for the off season when any fig might do. To the dehydrator with them!!

this should give people a more realistic expectation on tasting figs. there not always going to be 100% at the peak of there flavor. getting most of your figs to that 100% flavor is an art we all work towards. every grower needs to learn this for themselves.

Hey Ross, love the videos. Love the figs more 😂😝. Jk but I have a question. So I have a few different figs that may not be on the top of any figs expert list but regardless of that, I have two cutting that I took from my grammas fig tree last year maybe in October. I rooted them and this year I wasn’t expecting figs but what do you know they started producing figs... The leaves look like a brunswick but how can i know for sures. Ive seen different varieties with a similar leaf pattern. The figs are still green right now but I cant tell if theyre early mid or late season as I recently moved from a coastal climate near the central coast of California to a way hotter part of Southern California in Ontario Ca... is there any way we can communicate and maybe you can help me identify the variety.... 🙏🏼

Never heard of any of these figs.. I live in Southern California. And the primary figs we have growing here are Kadota, Brown Turkey, & Black Mission. And our markets have these 3 varietys only for sale. The Kadota is a white/green fig, & very sweet. Black Mission is my favorite. Brown Turkey is not a favorite for me.
