There was one time when I was trying to wash my car in the driveway, across the street there were a couple of college girls who had a flat tire. They couldn't get the tire off. About 15 minutes went by and two college dudes came up to try and help him change the tire. They also failed after trying for an hour. After I finished washing my car, I walked over with my jack and my 4 way, I didn't say a single word to the girks. I just change the tire put the spare on, all while the dudes sat and watched me. This actually happened to me and my friend once as youngsters out boat fishing. Not because the engine wasn't properly fastened (as in this case), but because the mounting plate bolted to the fiberglass body of the dingy failed and ripped itself off. Thankfully we had brought both lifevests and paddles along though, so we simply continued with the fishing after (we were already out there anyway), and noted the position for later retrieval of the engine (never found it though sadly). A very memorable and expensive trip lol (1k dollar engine)

We've always had steel cables attached to our outboard.....saved us from loosing our grandfather 's 19 Hp Johnson years ago.....as the cables kept the motor suspended until we reached shore. To this day securing duals cables to the transom is just part of boating......👍👍👍👍

Not mounted tightly. They just use two bolts that you screw down. I remember those engines. You gotta check those bolts regularly.

I experienced the same 40 years ago with my father in the Marina Veruda in Pula Croatia. We where rowing to the port and than something magic happend. A brunch of diver asked us where it happend, dived half an hour and recovered the motor. Very nice and friendly people in Juguslavia at that time🙏🧡
