Absinthe is no longer illegal in the US and has not been since 2009. I served in my own bar for 5 years. However, its manufacturing is heavily regulated and restricted. The Abinthe one gets in the US is not identical to what is available in France. The same is true of Jagermeister, an other anise liquor that is available in the US.

Yeah haggis is not illegal - animal lungs are prohibited from being sold commercially for human consumption but a lot of international meat markets sell haggis. Clickbait.

Sea bass sold at the store is not actually band anymore but it is under very strict regulations in regard to the number caught and in what area the size fish that are kept and the time of year that you're allowed to catch them. Unrelated but were you aware that salmon sold in the US is almost never actually salmon, it is usually a cheaper fish thats been infused with pink dye. The Beluga caviar in the US is not actually from the correct fish, it comes from breeds of fish that have been hybridized with the original fish from which beluga caviar came.

Haggis is like a giant piece of boudin, which is something you can get at nearly every gas station in south Louisiana. There is even something called boudin balls that is served at all Cajun restaurants that is the same thing as a link of boudin but without the innards casing, rolled into a ball, battered and fried, somewhat resembling a meaty hush puppy. Ackee is delicious! It has to tree ripen - the pod must open on the tree so the seeds can be seen BEFORE you pick them. Most have 3 seeds and on occasion 4. You twist and pull out the seeds, then also the little orange membrane residue. Cut out any overly soft pieces from the yellow fruit. You can then blanch the remaining yellow fruit and freeze if you aren't ready to cook it yet. Fry it up with onions, garlic, thyme, salt. pepper, sweet peppers etc. Pairs well with salted cod which it is cooked down with. Eats great alone once seasoned up. Tastes nothing like egg though it looks like it. May have a faint bitter taste.

As a member of the Scottish clan Donald (McDonnald) and belonging to the war house of McConnell. Trust me Haggis is illegal in the US for commercial manufacture, sale, or public consumption. Due to the fact it contains sheep lung and is encased in a sheep's stomach. Although it can still theoretically legally make it in your home for your own consumption; then there are the smugglers who bring it through Canada.

Firearms as well as A LOT of other things in the U.S. are so highly regulated that Law suits aren't as cut and dry as a child having the POTENTIAL to choke which is why Legos have a ton of legal writing on the package and in the instructions. It's also why places like Walmart, Lowes or any other big box retailer have VERY STRICT guidelines when dealing with spills or use of forklifts, so when you see a Lowes employee using a forklift and the entire aisle is not only blocked off but there's two more employees, one at each end of the aisle standing guard, you know why.

Yes and no. The Kinder eggs in the US are not the iconic eggs that originate in Europe but rather a different design created for the US market as US law states it bans candy with non-food objects inside due to being a choking hazard. By current law the item is banned from being brought from any country to the US and if found to be carrying them there is a hefty fine of $2500 per egg and a potential case of being refused entry, I have confirmed this before with border control and you can see it on the U.S. Customs and Border Protection website. www.cbp.gov/newsroom/local-media-release/importation-advisory-kinder-eggs.

@@vicpiepenbrink2475 We get them all the time here in SC and they have a toy with small parts. So somebody missed the memo.

Yah, Im with @Joseph Butler. Ill read the link that was posted for clarification but right now as @josephbutler said, "someone missed the memo," because I have 6 Kinder egg toys in my glove box right now and I will in AZ.

@@josephbutler8870 still not the same as in Europe. Your eggs are different. Also many of you have Kinder joy and call it surprise egg^^ it's simply not a real surprise egg.

The kinder eggs here in the us are different now because the candy is on one side and the toy is on the other half. Toy is no longer inside the candy

ackee is perfectly safe and delicious when prepared properly. also, you stole footage from weird explorer. instead of sensationalizing foods that make up massive parts of other cultures and ripping off videos that discuss them in better depth than you do, maybe you should do some actual research on why they're so important to the people who enjoy them. kinda disappointing man.

My dad used to dig up sassafras roots and dry them out and make tea. He never had an issue with him drinking it.

My mom used to keep a jar of sassafras root shavings used to make tea with when I was a kid. I was allowed to brew tea for myself with the dried root shavings. I also would dig up sassafras roots and dry them out to make tea after I was grown. I loved the taste and the aroma.
