You seem to miss a lot of small details that would make your videos much more fulfilling. When talking about fable, you fail to mention what any of the over hyped features were. With Sim City, why did they want it to be online only to begin with? some sort of multiplayer aspect? As for Diablo III, what was so bad about the auction house? I understand that a lot of this is "old news" and could be found elsewhere but if you're telling the story, tell it all. This happens across a lot of your videos. I end up with questions that I feel should have been answered. I really do enjoy your videos. They just seem to be missing that last little closing bit of info sometimes.
@fanfaretloudest7 жыл бұрын
Yeah I don't like that this video just brought up each subject vaguely because they assumed the audience watching knew what they were talking about. This was not their strongest video.
@Dhalin7 жыл бұрын
As far as SimCity being online-only, well that was obviously for DRM purposes. The online-only multiplayer thing was just a tacked-on excuse and they only caved after mountains of complaints from angry consumers. As for Diablo 3, the loot and its drop system had to be balanced around the AH's presence, AND someone with enough money could just circumvent the loot system altogether to just buy their way through the game. It was a terrible system altogether.

You seem to have forgotten (or perhaps never known about) Warframe update 15.2, and the following player revolt known as Vivergate. Basically, Digital Extremes implemented a system that was horribly slow and grindy (I assume in update 15), meaning that people looked for a way to let them get things in the system of what would have likely taken them years to get in mere weeks instead. So, people found a mission called Viver, and found that, if you stood in a specific spot with the Mag, Excalibur, and Trinity warframes and used radial (AOE) abilities, you would be able to gain in the system much faster. This system was a reputation system with various groups in Warframe known as syndicates. At the time, Excalibur and Mag were considered completely useless outside of that one mission (and Mag still is). What did DE do in response? Instead of changing Viver, or fixing the Syndicate reputation system, they took the frames useful for it, two of which were shit, and proceeded to nerf them into the ground. This led to mass player hysteria, in which many players complained loudly and threatened to leave the game, a number of which never even used Viver but just had their favorite frames nerfed into oblivion. The following day, DE reversed most of the changes, released a formal apology, changed Viver, started buffing Excalibur to the point where he's now considered one of the best frames, and made the Syndicate reputation system something that no longer requires you to grind your face off with a cheese grater.

I'm surprised he mentioned WoW several times but never brought up flying. Flying is I believe the devs biggest regret.
@TheAsylumchild7 жыл бұрын
Elizabeth McKinnie amen to that. every freaking expansion blows up in the forums with "OMG WHEN R WE GETTING FLYING?" It's like learn to navigate trails and land and stop trying to take the easy way you trolls!
@ROFLstompie7 жыл бұрын
TheAsylumchild people want flying because questing and navigation is fucking annoying. The game shows its age most in questing. Endgame is still great but it's the only redeeming quality of it, so we want flying to expedite the process.
@TheAsylumchild7 жыл бұрын
If people think questing and navigation is fucking annoying, then WoW isn't the game for them. They are so interested in getting to the endgame and "win" that they want to take every shortcut to get there which is obvious when they add heirlooms (which will be going up to 110), toys that open all flight paths, and character boosts to 100. Players like that play too much XBox and not enough Everquest, Lineage 2, Rift, or other MMOs where you spend TIME to EARN your power and that's what the game is about. I am willing to bet none of them ever played Dungeons and Dragons where you spend an hour just making your character and have all night gaming sessions doing ONE quest story before dividing up the treasure. Impatience and this "gotta have everything handed to me easy" is what kills the game no matter how old it is. Saying this age old argument about how quests are boring and such is like saying you like playing Resident Evil, but you don't like solving the puzzles or getting all the weapon. If you just want to kill zombies and bosses without immersing yourself into the mystery and horror of the game, then RE isn't for you.
@ROFLstompie7 жыл бұрын
If you think questing is the meat of wow idk what to tell you other than you're wrong. Its not that anybody wants a reward handed to them or to "win" which you cant even necessarily do, but to not have to do fucking mind numbing repetitive tasks for weeks to get to be able to do something actually fun. Killing 10 boars with a different coat of paint, then riding a few minutes to do it again somewhere else is not fun or engaging at all.
@TheAsylumchild7 жыл бұрын
And thus, we have reached the problem with WoW. There is no continuity and everyone just wants to rush to the endgame where all the "fun" is not realizing the WHOLE GAME, quests and all, is what makes it fun. RPGs are not supposed to be fast paced, action packed games. You play a character and build it up from the ground up and have fun doing it. That's been the premises of an RPG since Dungeons and Dragons.

i know a lot of people didn't like it...but i loved the original FFXIV, i liked mixing skills from different classes, i liked the crafting system, i liked the huge maps and the beautiful trees in gridania, and i liked the fact that every spell could be AOE, like a lot old FF games. the new FFXIV is ok, but it's less FFXI and more WoW. and if i wanted to play WoW...i'd just play WoW. and sure it could be a pain selling and buying things, but i grew up on RO so...this was a pretty familiar system for me. it also meant there were regional prices for different things, marmot pelts were a lot cheaper in ul'dah than in limsa lominsa. and the ability to create crystals and shards from clusters and crystals respectively was pretty cool and very useful (because people ALWAYS need shards) i even liked the long boat ride from limsa to ul'dah, was a good time to craft or fish, i liked it when you could see landfall ahead pointing and yelling "land ho!" i liked the way that trees had species and weren't just generic "tree", if you went to the tree that looked like an oak tree and harvested it guess what you got? oak branches, oak logs...you know what you didn't get? cinnamon, or maple sap (yeah in ARR you can get cinnamon and maple sap from the same frikken tree) the oak trees looked like oak trees, the ash trees looked like ash trees, the fields with flax had flax growing in em. and the crafting recipes had more than one way to make things, why should only coral butterflies be used to make fish glue? why can't i use aldgoat skin to make animal glue? or animal hides? the original FFXIV had all that and more, there were plenty of ways to make things and there were even more skins, you could use any fish to make fish glue, any skin to make animal glue. there was an attention to detail that i liked, there was a sense of realism in the fantasy that i liked. when you ran there was an acceleration curve, when you stopped a deceleration curve, when you turned you turned on a curve, in ARR you walk all crazy, 0-full speed instantly, turn on a point.

@rollinroy18417 жыл бұрын
slidel1995 warning: wall o' text lol =] it took me 3 plathroughs on da2 to notice what people were whining about. To be fair, some of the criticism is true. da2 only had one story - one path. For an rpg - and specifically when compared to da:o (basically da1) - choices are _supposed to matter_. In da1, you could be nice, rogue-ish, or outright evil, and those choices would _significantly_ affect the outcome of your game. On da2, the only effect your choices had on the game were this: your allies either loved or hated you. That's it. However, i played & enjoyed da2 because I wasn't there to judge how every option was affected. I liked that my character wasn't mute, & i liked the improved graphics. One _invalid_ criticism of da2 was the "easy" combat. I played it on normal & enjoyed it. I played it on nightmare (hardest?) difficulty, & it was incredibly...annoying. You basically need to drink potions every time something hits you. It's not fun, & I don't understand how anyone could call it easy. It was boring, & it was no different than playing da1 on hardest (don't; it just takes the fun out of it). Da1 is better than da2. Da1 has more replayability than da2, & despite its age has good characters & choices for however you play your character. Da2 has better graphics, good voice acting, and a good story (if you don't play alignment: dick). And the combat for either is fun & strategic at normal difficulty. For _either_ da1 or da2, don't raise the difficulty. You'll just make it boring. But, that is just _my_ observation on it - _my_ opinion. Your mileage..may vary. Sorry 'bout the long comment. I read up on da2 long after people were done ranting about it.. x-]
@slidel19957 жыл бұрын
+RollinRoy Yay, opinions! Are there different versions of DA1? (I think I remember something like that) I don't really remember having many chances to change the game other then "choose a side, one stays in the game, the other goes away." I actually think DA1 had the weakest cast of the three. Don't get me wrong, some of my favorite characters are from 1 but... Say what you will about 2's cast, but at least they all stood out. A lot of the characters in 1 just aren't interesting at all at first glance (I couldn't remember anyone outside my preferred party) and there's very limited interaction with party members compared to the other games, so this is hard to remedy. DA1 is still fun even today, and was probably fantastic for it's time. But it's certainly not the flawless gem that some would have you believe. (I'm trying to keep this comment from being TOO long) I just don't get why 2 is often treated like a crime against humanity lol My opinion is that 2 took a step forward... and then another step back. Not better not worse just, different. (Aside from the problems that arose from rushed development.) As for nightmare, I gave up just after the prologue when I realized friendly fire was a thing. "You want me to play on the highest difficulty, and put a leash on my MAGE??? Are you CRAZY???"

slidel1995 i think you are referring to dragon age: awakening. I never played it, but i _think_ that it was dlc for da1. If it was dlc, it was a big dlc. As far as memorable characters, i liked the wild witch (morrigan?). Actually , i liked most of 'em, but i favored the useful ones at the time. I think the witch was the most memorable; although, alistair might be up there if you romance him (i did not). Yeah, they're both good games, but I definitely connected with da2 more than da1 because of hawke's voice acting as well as the improved graphics.

@gtasthehunter7 жыл бұрын
You must not have played "FFXIV ARR" for that long then let alone ever started heavensward and soon to be stormblood and the main story quests and dungeons really only helps to level up for 1 class/job and side quests might help level up a 2nd class/job there are 9 classes and will be 15 jobs in June - SCH/SMN< level up at the same time unless they change that. and mob grinding isn't all that fun and the closest thing to that might be running FATEs which is what I would want to do more than other things, and now most or some seem at run the potd to level up. There is a Hunt Log where you do have to kill set amounts of specific level mobs for classes only, no new jobs without classes have those and only up to level 50 then there are repeatable clan marks where you still just hunt mobs, and if just started they've increased exp from older quests to help newer players to level up and catch up to join others

In addition to open world PvP on PvP-enabled servers, the game also had battlegrounds (which were and remain vastly more popular than Arenas). Not to mention how popular Arenas ended up being and how they jumpstarted serious PvP in WoW culminating in spectacular "finals" events. P.S., Molineux has been -- quite famously -- guilty of over-hyping and under-delivering since the first Black & White.

Does GamingBolt hire a voice actor? No mention of name, and clearly not a member of the staff at Gamingbolt, so who is doing the voice? Who is writing this stuff? It's nice to see that the scam site has still never made it big, but must be turning a profit on KZbin.

Evolution of Combat absolutely ruined Runescape. Once the biggest free game, now no one knows what it is.

Considering his recent PLANETARY SIZED FUCK UPS I'm a little insulted your thumbnail would imply Peter Molyneux is anyones favorite developer.

They apologised for Dragon Age 2? Where's our apology for DA3? That was much worse. It played like an MMORPG in which you were the only person "online".
@kinlopunim7 жыл бұрын
then you must hate RPG's, because DA3 was great.

Actually, I really love RPGs. I especially loved Dragon Age: Origins. I even got a lot of enjoyment out of DA2.

Simon R I hated the gameplay in DA2, but everything else was enjoyable enough. DAO, on the other hand, was amazing.

Very true: DA:O was an absolute classic. I can't wait to have the time to play it yet again.

I'm kind of surprised that NMS isn't on here. For me Destiny still kind of sucks, more now than before. I remember hearing about Unity's bugs but never ran into any.

Let's be real... Destiny freaking sucks without the DLC... Like it still really really sucks without the freaking DLC because they actually took out content for people without DLC. That's just baffling and shouldn't even be fucking legal!

Peter Molyneux went on to overhype and entire game concept and also an app, which was barely a game! Maybe the man is a nice guy, I don't know. But goddamn has he caused some grief with his promises.

"We're listening" -Bioware Uhh... no you're not. I have yet to see a Bioware game that can compete with Dragon Age: Origins. Perhaps it's because you guys sold out and lost your talent. I don't know. To give you some credit, I actually enjoyed Inquisition. Though objectively, it is nowhere near as good as Origins.
