AC Odyssey's map is such an accurate representation of what Greece would have looked like back then that there is a UK university that uses exploration mode as part of their ancient history course.

Another worth a mention would have been The Hunter: Call of the Wild The base game "only" includes 50 sq miles, but add on the DLC reserves and you have over 300 square miles in which to hunt more than 100 species of animals and birds. And you nearly always want to be on foot, because the ATVs scare off the prey, so crossing a map takes a while.

Keep up the good content new sub here! Ignore the negative comments, there will always those types of people lol Constructive criticism is fine and helps you add new content and fine-tune some things. As for other games not mentioned that other commenters mentioned, I'm sure that has given you some new content to dwell on for future vids.

@antiriad1974 7 ай бұрын
This! Always amazes me that ED rarely gets a mention in lists like this - 65,000 light years from one side to the other - billions of planets to explore (admittedly not much to find beyond interesting rock formations!) - you can't get much bigger than a 1:1 scale replica of our galaxy!
@Cramblit
@Cramblit 7 ай бұрын
Probably because while its huge, it's 100% empty and void of anything, and is barely a game. Anyone can make a procedural generated system, then let it run until its the size of the galaxy. That's not impressive anymore. Actually having content is important. This is why the "game" that literally generates entire galaxies, and thousands of them for you to explore, is never listed... because there's nothing there, and its barren and empty.

I will agree, Elden Ring definately has its difficult moments. Especially the final 3rd of the game. However, it also gave me that skyrim feel. Just exploring the world, wondering what I will find. Skyrim, (Oblivian) Tears of the Kingdom, and Elden Ring just have that sense of wonder to them. (Also Elden Ring has a couple mechanics to the game that make it slightly more forgiving than previous Fromsoft games) Anyway, Elden Ring is a game in which its best qualities, it's difficulty and exploration, (You can literally miss a lot of things in the game) are also the reason people may not enjoy the game.
@AikonOfi
@AikonOfi 7 ай бұрын
well I too am not a fan of very hard games and want something more like to enjoy an open world with a fair combat and exploration but I gave elden ring a chance and played it with mods so it would be easier and man it was worth every damn minute, now i got over 300 hours in and I'm patiently waiting for the DLC. Great recap of games. I may need to check a few out. I know it is 'in development', but Star Citizen dwarfs all of these for shear vastness of FULLY explorable space. Yes, some undeveloped cities are off limits, but pretty much everywhere else is accessible. It is also 'mostly' realistic. If you have not seen it recently or ever, you need to.

What I love about soulsgame in the general is the joy of getting lost and explore the surprises by yourself. Was late playing ds 1 so although most bosses are mid compared to today's standard, exploration is still so fun. Any other game like this you guys can reccomend? Something that has no objectives in map and very little cutscenes where you just play your own story.

How is Forza Horizon 5 here, but The Crew isn't? The Crew had a map that spanned the entire USA, with major cities like NYC, LA, Miami, Chicago, Vegas, Detroit, San Francisco, St Louis, Seattle, Washington, Dallas, New Orleans, all with their landmarks....it also had smaller places, and basically biggest road network I've ever seen in a game. And i played tom Clancy Breakpoint - probably biggest open world 3rd person shooting game with such a huge map, lots of content to do, and lots of outpost to conquer. Those 2 may be my favorite. I hate when map is just empty af or they give u few different monsters to kill and that's it.

The map of Ghost Recon Wildlands is absolutely fabulous. This was Ubi at its peak. They have created this massive compressed representation of Bolivia without a loading screen in sight. Their research team took tons of video and photos and its paid off. It looks and feels like the real Bolivia. You just need to watch a YT vid and then play the game and you'll see this. You can fly at height speed at treetop height in a helicopter from one end to the other and no load screens. The draw distances are awesome. The immersion is total. Truly one of gamings best ever maps. I love open world games the bigger the better. Heres to more gigantic maps!! Ubi has its issues but they are one of the masters at creating awesome looking open worlds.

Just Cos 4 is good, but 3 is better. Because you can blow up bridges. And do a little bit more

no mention of Second Life? :) Second Life's mainland is over 1000 square miles and there are also nearly 20,000 40 square mile private maps too.

An impressive list, but I can’t help but wonder why Eve Online didn’t make the list. Its map is set in outer space, and is measured in light years.

you forgot RDR2 and No Man’s Sky. No Man’s Sky has the biggest video game map ever created. Most of it has not even been discorvered yet.

What I love about these games is that while they are massive in size and diverse with the different biomes, you don't have diversity in characters, they are pretty much all the same race so they don't offend certain people because they successfully eradicated or made to a major minimum most unpopular races. (sarcasm)

World of Warcraft is pretty big. Kalimdor alone is 41 Sq. miles and Eastern Kingdoms is 57. And that's only the main vanilla maps. Lorewise it is 1000 miles across.
