Travelled through Bole airport twice, the first time back in 2004 when Ethiopian was still a small airline and the second time in 2016. Back in 2004 Bole was not that busy and most of the international flights would arrive and depart at night. I could say it was rather a sleepy airport. Addis Ababa was very interesting as was other places I visited in Ethiopia. The most recent trip via Bole airport was different, crazy busy, packed and chaotic. In both instances security was very tight and the Ethiopian people were very nice. The last time I was at Bole airport, despite the restaurant being packed to capacity I managed to find a seat and have a wonderful Ethiopian meal.

The moment I saw that you took the mini bus taxis like locals, I knew that you were a genuine traveller. Nice video. I'm an American from Oxnard, a California. A city located near Los Angeles. And its amazing, how the airport in Addis Ababa is so much nicer than the one in Los Angeles and many other American cities. Even parts of central Addis Ababa look better, cleaner and wealthier, than areas of downtown Los Angeles and some other American cities. Although America is by far the richest country in the world. Many people and places are largely deprived of that wealth. I've been to areas of Mexico and Africa, that look better than parts of Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Chicago or Philadelphia.

I have been to Ethiopia 3 times. I love it. I stay close to Bole by Gerji area. Especially close to gerji condominiums. I always get the Ethiopian evisa before I land in Ethiopia. You can get on arrival but there is a long line sometimes. The mountains that he went to,the ones north of Addis are Yeka mountains. There is a Yeka neighborhood too. Addis Ababa is surrounded by Oromia regional stare on all side. Even south,goring toward Bishoftu and Adama.
