I think 18 months is too long. In the country I live the mandatory military service is 6-9months which is much more acceptable and still plenty :)

Thank you for doing this segment Here goes.. Shoutout for an honorable mention of my two favorite Korean Actors: Lee Min Ho and Kim-Soo Hyun! Secondly....Park Hyung Shik!!! Captured my heart with his endearing presence & obsessive desire for his first love in “Hwarang” ! During that time , I didn’t know V but as l became “ARMY, through photos, l later found out they’re friends! 💜 💪！ I compared Shik’s performance in Hwarang to Ji Chang Wook’s in Empress Ki...Same endearing presence & obsessive desire! Their roles were different but similar! Wook ended up getting the girl in the end! 🙂 Side note: Wook was also recently released from the military and hasn’t missed a beat! I’m currently enjoying him in “Love Struck In the City”! Great Job 👏 @HappySqueak! 👍👍👍👍❤️

You have to understand that this is part of national security. They needed a lot of help when things happen. South Korea is a small country. 2 years really do fly fast. And they learned a lot of discipline and self awareness with maturity after military. They are only there for two years and they go into war if necessary. As foreigner, please respect their foreign policy, and encourage your favourite idols to join and come back even better and stronger. They are not there for permanent position. They just have to be ready. They are not physically in war. There are other soldiers involved physically in war this time. Those who joined as mandatory activity are not qualified to join in physical war yet unless they want to go next level. Two years is more of basic training. If they want to be solider full time, they go next level. Most of them returned to normal lives. They need to prepare for it anytime. You can write letters to them and cheer them up. Also take note that Korea decided to make mandatory service shorter because they wouldn’t want citizens to lose their jobs.

Military, is military. It is not right to demand this training as you call it. It should be on free will, as many countries do so in modern times. If there is a war, we all will die, because there will be chemicals, and other means used as weapons. And this awful K-Pop group called BTS with their aggressive fans does not need to attend war training. I disagree totally. But this is my very private viewpoint not be generalised, l respect all other opinions, as we all come from different backgrounds. Thank you.

It's a law. As you know that there are some fights between north korea and south korea. In order to fight with them, in case of any emergency they have done military service so they can fight with the north koreans.

Because korean war hasn’t ended. Both Koreas are in a treaty of peace so to speak, that north korea can break at any time, so obviously they need to keep training soldiers.
