I had a Special Forces instructor many years ago and I asked if they still used crossbows. He said yes. I asked why would you need that if you can use suppressed pistols (back then suppressed 1911s). He said that the sound of the reciprocating slide is still noisy, so a crossbow is much quieter. But you need someone who is an experienced cross bow archer.
