This is by far the most useful "X Lightroom Tips you need to know" videos I've watched so far

Jesus Christ, Jamie, mate, I've been using LR for years, watched all LR tricks and tips on youtube, this video is the only one that showed me new stuff. Like, the local adjustment amount slider, my eyes just got wider and wider watching this, what is this magic, how long has it been there, is this what the NSA doesn't want us to know

Your videos surprise me every time, the amount of value is huge! What you are telling the world is the difference between doing a full week course of something and learning your tools like you have been using it everyday. Explaining the tool your are removing it from the equation between you and your craft. I damn like the vibes!
@mikepawlikguitar3 жыл бұрын
Jamie I value your opinion a lot because you challenge the status quo and help people understand that there is a world of knowledge to be learned out there. You're like the Joe Pass of the photography world, real deep knowledge like the jazz greats, whereas Instagram and popular western photography and culture is highly palatable like Nickelback or Bruno Mars. So thanks for your hard work in bringing these stories and knowledge to us.

Thank you SO MUCH! I had NO idea for some of them. Regarding the use of the presets I was talking with a fellow photographer the other day and she was telling me that she never uses presets because everything seems to be the same in every picture with everyone who uses them. I told her that when you use them you don't just apply but you adjust them. You have to know how you want a picture of yours to look like and how is your style in order to adjust accordingly. In my opinion, presets save time and help you to create your own personal style. I have changed a lot presets until I concluded that Jamie's presets are what I was looking for . Thank you Jamie.
@jamiewindsor4 жыл бұрын
Effie Skitsa Thanks. A preset is a starting point. It’s like a film stock in my mind. You add a ‘look’ and then tweak it until it’s how you envisioned it. I don’t buy the notion that they inhibit your creativity or individuality. Stylistic fashions in photography will be there with or without presets.

Jamie, I don't mind presets I do have a few but the only thing I wish from prests was that they did not move the sliders. If they worked in that way it would be great as then you can use them as a true starting point kind of like when you say edit in Luminar 4 the picture comes back as a tiff and if you have done any global edits before editing in Luminar once you save the file and it comes back into Lightroom it is now a tiff file and you can double dip on your global edits again. I hope you understand what I mean this way once you apply the preset you can start your edit from there.

So if you're using local adjustments how does that work for presets? I love your work Jamie! Keep it up, you're the best!

Andrea González Aragón Well, local adjustments can be added as part of a preset, but you can do things like isolate luminance levels and certain hues and apply specific settings only to those sections.

Jamie thanks a lot for your tricks!Do you know if is possible to apply a preset on, but not on entire photo?For example i want to apply a preset to the background but preserve the skintones...that would be great!
@jamiewindsor4 жыл бұрын
There are a few ways to do this. 1. Create a virtual copy of the photo and open both in Photoshop. Put on over the other and mask the bits you want. 2. See if you can recreate the preset using only local adjustments, then mask out the skin tones with a colour mask. 3. See if you can 'undo' the preset effect on skintones with local adjustments and then use a colour mask.

Nice one. Allthough I don't use LR. :) I like your videos a lot. Very creative, with a lot of atencion to artistic direction. That being said the thing I like te most is your hightlight on the artistic process and not on camera specs. I have being learning a lot from your videos. And enjoying photography more and more. I really appreciate when famous photos and photographs appear in your videos so their process is discussed. It has made me think of educating myself. I like music, like most people, can name a lot of music, álbuns, bands styles of music, musicians and I can also put them in chronological order, I like photography but can't name a photographer our a photo our a movement (although it's the same for every art, romantic, realistic, abstract;)). Also I appreciate the way you let the audience think not concluding anything as absolute. "beware e the rule of thirds". That being said, have you considered doing a video, our a series, about you favorite our/and what you think are essencial photographers/photografy books? Thank you again and keep up the great work. It is like a oxigen bubble for me.
