Bliss? That's good to hear Jennifer. It's all any of us could ask for rain or not. Them mountains are impressive. The Cairmgorms has always been a place I want to go. Well, I will do at some stage. You did well considering the 2 poor nights sleep and travel. 24K up and down. Thumbs up. With that have a great week ahead. Mark

Wow, I loved this! I just did Ben Macdui myself this weekend and it was such a great hike - although we had clouds for almost all the hike, so we didn't get the views you had at times...really cool to see what it actually looked like (and I'm a little jealous I have to say - the scenery looks incredible!).
@staywildjen2 жыл бұрын
I'm sure it was still beautiful even with the clouds! Next time hopefully the sun will be out for you. Thank you for watching :)

That’s a serious days walking - well done!! I too thought the OS map route was a good addition, especially at the end rather than the beginning as it was easier to reflect on the walk. Also thought the finger pointing of where you had walked worked very well courtesy of the green finger nail on the dark background! Good stuff, looking forward to the next one!

Absolutely stunning views, I can see why you are shattered. Wise call to come back down. Those descents really play havoc with the knees. I bought myself treking poles for that very reason. I know they are a pain when vloging but in-between they are a life saver to me. Looking forward to the next installment. Thank you for sharing. Question. I see you have the action cam. Do you have a gimbal separately? I just hate my camera shake.
@staywildjen2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching :) Yeah I do have poles - hindsight I should have brought them. The action cam has a 'rocksteady' setting which I turn on if I know the camera will be shaking eg when I'm walking (though I do sometimes forget). If I use my phone to record and I'm moving or it's really windy then it does show the shaking quite badly so I may pick up a gimbal for the phone. It's just another thing to carry though!

Hello Jennifer. Fantastic video of your ben macdui hike. Me and a couple of friends are hiking the loop at easter time. Is there any advice you could give us that might make the walk better? Any advice would be much appreciated. Cheers Gary
@staywildjen Жыл бұрын
Hi Gary! Thank you for watching. We did this in August and the weather was still unpredictable so I guess make sure you check the mountain weather before you begin and have your bag packed for any eventuality as it is really remote up there. The path up to MacDui is easy to follow until you get to say the last third and it's harder to see, so I would recommend having the route downloaded to your phone and/or a paper map with you. You can make the hike as long or as short as you want too - we got carried away with the beauty of the area and it became a really long day but it was amazing and SO beautiful. I use AllTrails to find routes so maybe have a look on there and have a couple downloaded to your phone so you can decide on the day which route you fancy. I hope that helps. Enjoy!

Thank you jen for your advice. I have OS mapping app already downloaded, but will also go with your advice and get the alltrails one too. All the best with future adventures and once again thanks 👍

Nice, it's a great area you should try and get to the Munro's on the other side of the Lairig Ghru. Which Rab jacket is that by the way, really nice colour?
