Thank you for giving us a beautiful way to relieve the suffering of others in some small but meaningful way. It also felt good to have self-compassion and forgiveness for not always thinking, saying or doing the most compassionate things, it is a constant practice and we certainly need to have patience for ourselves. ❤🙏

Oh my! Yes indeed. A practice in motion. We need to be our own champions and talk to ourselves as if we were supporting our friends. The Tonglen technique is a wonderful legacy from Buddhism or perhaps even before that. I read somewhere it’s been around for 900 years! ❤️🙏

Thank you Fiona, very nice practice. Would you recommend this type of meditation even for people who don't feel very grounded? Namaste!

Will share my thoughts shortly x......apologies...was just serving dinner ;-) It can be a confronting practice. It asks us to reverse the usual logic of avoiding suffering. When feeling ungrounded or anxious, it encourages us instead to open our heart and eyes to the world we live in without flinching or bypassing the hard stuff. A challenging practice. Tonglen can be practiced for yourself. If one is feeling ungrounded, it offers the chance to recognise the truth that others may too be suffering in the same way. Connecting to that view can offer solace. It also gives one the opportunity to become present to what’s really going on. Our emotions that allow us to feel ungrounded are just energy in motion. They are meant to move and dissipate. Sometimes we choose to hold onto them which can have a negative effect on our body and mind. The Tonglen practice is one tactic that helps us to see the bigger picture. In this way, the ungrounded or anxious energy has the opportunity to move and pass.
