Learn how to make a honey dipper in 15 minutes (give or take).
This is the speed at which Tim turns when the cameras are off, yet he still explains every step of the project from start to finish. You will see how he uses the roughing gouge, spindle gouge and parting tool to make a beautiful honey dipper.

Nice job! A honey dipper was one of the first things I made when I started turning 2 years ago. They are fun and easy and it gave me the added challenge of turning most of it with a 1/2" skew chisel. Now I need to try it with a 3/8" spindle gouge. Thanks for sharing! 👍🏾

This is great! I can’t believe you did that all while explaining what you are doing. I just posted a video about how I make a honey dipper in under 5 minutes on my channel. I did no talking or teaching at all! I love that you put in the bee butt shaped handle and the burned details. Made me laugh and appreciate what an artist you are!

Thank you for this great video! Until today I didn't know that something like a 'honey dipper' existed and now I know how to make one! Where I live (Netherlands) we have small honey jars with some kind of 'diaphragm', but after some googling I understand that honey dippers can be used with big jars.

I really like using the metal wire guitar strings. You can usually get used strings for free from your local music shop. The different thicknesses of the strings give you a lot of different sized designs.

'Advanced project' works for most of the times that one breaks the rules :^) At least that is what I tell the emergency room doctor! All joking aside, with a spindle turning that small the worst thing that could happen is that the tool rest scratches the spinning wood. Now if it was a piece of burl with voids I would stop the lathe when I moved the tool rest :^)

Hey few questions do hardness of woods effect cutting in general? I am trying to turn plugs cause I make custom ones out of African Paduk , Blood Wood , and Satin brazial wood. And they are so hard to turn sometimes. Like I will use a hole saw make a ruff circle I need then shape them accordingly. But I feel as if I am doing something horribly wrong. The ease that you have for cutting wood is amazing. Could you maybe give me some tips on this?

Yes, it was to know how long they were going. If he already knew the exact time he was spending on the project he would have a countdown. Since seeing in the future is not possible, and people wish to know how long they spent on a certain project, they use a timer. This times the duration...
