The snow shovel example is the clearest example I’ve seen.

Thanks for discussing lighting, Tim. I've been carving spoons from wood logs for many years and having appropriate side-raking lighting is key to carving high-quality spoons. And as you mentioned, the lighting is also critical for making quality turnings.

Any excuse to go on a walk in the park, right? The snow shovel and skipping rock were likely the best illustrations I've seen for both of those techniques. Thanks for sharing!

Good video, BUT, ive been able to make some really nice bowls out of cedar trees like the one you dismissed. Nice grain, nice colors!

a friend of mine, (former forestry agent) has a saw he calls "Big Bertha" 52" (56"?) bar two man saw.

Nice..but in Switzerland there are no friends who say come cut a tree and take the wood. There are Swiss who says how much are you going to pay.

You don't need a big bar to fall big trees. Just saying. I love felling trees, when necessary of course. Then I'll take and mill the lumber out of the logs. Been felling trees (work and personal) for almost 2 decades now. I've been lucky to get a couple good burls that i made into beautiful bowls. But nowadays people are learning that everything is worth something and they want money
