My brother gave me one of those candle lanterns back when dinosaurs roamed the earth. First time I took it camping, I decided to douse it by just closing it, as you demonstrated. Legend says that if you wander the foothills of the Appalachian mountains in Virginia on a cold October evening, you can still hear my agonized screams from when I put my hand on top of that damned lantern. Here, 30 odd years later, I still have the lantern. The scar and the trauma have nearly faded away. Thank you for the wonderful, honest and entertaining content you provide!

best gift idea video for 2023 by far that I've watched. all great ideas (well you may know my opinion of 15😞) if you read my comments on the video but whatever it was still an awesome overall vid. I think I love the 10th one best as my hands always seem to need that extra warmth, so will look into those for a request to the missus. Most of the others I have a version of or wouldn't need for what I do, but the ones I have are seemingly almost always used when necessary. Thanks for a "funny", "light", and "informative" video. Oh and I did see a suggestion I hadn't thought of for one of my kids - so that was very cool.

@@StephenJReid the phone anchor thing. though my kids are in their 40s and have kids of their own, one seems to always end up dropping their phone, cracking the screen, and damaging their case. so this might be the "safety net" she needs as she goes about her daily day as a mom, teacher, chauffeur, etc. It sure seems a good possible insurance option compared to the repair/replacement of an iPhone.

Wireless charging for a phone ...not sure I'd use it if I was hiking though. It's not a very efficient way to charge a device, you'll get more power from a battery pack if you're wired in directly. Fair enough about the damp though...
@StephenJReid Жыл бұрын
It’s not as bad as you’d think, about 20% less efficient than wired charging and if you only need a single charge there’s no benefit to using a cable. Although if really restricted yeah a cable would last you longer.

Stephen, you’re so evil- your last video on the midges net made me subscribe to your channel. I was happy with my current gear but these items mostly are seriously tempting me. Also the titanium stove looks good, I’ve a bike trip planned for Morocco, and gas bottles, meths etc will be hard to find, so one of those means I can forage for sticks to use. Good reviews with the usual humour thrown in. Have a great Xmas PS, when you were describing the top, I thought you said ‘rain forest’ then realised you said re enforced!!! Speak properly man!!!😂
