Reason #1 to leave. Property taxes! My wife is an Austin native, I'm a SoCal xplant since 2001. It was great the 1st five years then went downhill pretty quick. From 2021 - 2023 our property taxes went from over $6K to 8K to 10K in those three years. The homeless tolerant culture was insane. We were fortunate we were both able to retire in 2023 and get out to deep rural east Tx. Now, if you want great Italian food in Austin check out Andiamo Ristorante up north in the midst of the brewery district you mentioned.

Oh man, don't even get me started on property taxes! It really is terrible. We need property tax reform- and we need it soon. And thanks for the italian restaurant rec! Never heard of that place actually! Also, being from Beaumont and growing up in Conroe, I have a very soft place in my heart for east Texas :) Oh, and great username! 😂
