Not to burst anyone's bubble, but most these jobs allow you to work remotely WITHIN the US ONLY. i know first hand that anything in telemedicine is like that

This was eye opening. I have been working in a remote job at around 80k USD for 1 1/2 years teaching healthcare workers how to use electronic medical record systems. Suddenly I feel under paid but I still really enjoy the work.

How did you learn how to do this? I'm studying to become a nurse but want to diversify my knowledge and would love to be making 80k for a few years before I even finish my degree. Any help is appreciated!!

Kristin, those are great resources but the numbers are a bit inflated for clickbait purposes I guess... I've lived and worked over 30 years in Europe, and over 25 years in the states where I am now, and I assume my next 5-10 years will be in Southeast Far East Asia, the Philipines, Thailand, and around that area of the world... I plan to semi-retire in the Philippines, considering that I am already semi-retired in the US as it is now... I'm an early retired Project Manager myself with a post-graduate MBA, so I'll say again, the earnings posted are a bit inflated, the real jobs won't pay that much...

I am a developer and to think that you will just self teach yourself and start making 12k in 6 months or so is a total joke. The job market right now is oversaturated especially for folks just trying to get into the field. The days when they will hire entry level and then train, I do believe are over. These jobs are also very difficult if you want to be good/competent...you constantly have to upskill to keep up with the latest tech....if you want to put 3-5 years into the endeavor and enjoy it and have above average intelligence then go for it. Also, although there are some companies that allow 100 remote work most want you in the office at least a couple of times a week.
@theosteknion6219
@theosteknion6219 Жыл бұрын
I wouldn't discourage because there are self taught web developers & some even have youtube channels. If you truly want to learn you will find a way. And nowadays KZbin is used very much as an educational platform. Seek & ye shall find 😉
@myronschabe
@myronschabe Жыл бұрын
@@theosteknion6219 My point was not that you can't teach yourself, which, you can do with a lot of perserverance, but moreover the realistic time investment it is going to take...as well the difficulty of trying to 'prove' yourself in the current climate. Additionally, it is not just the programming language(s you generally need more than 1) itself but the myriad of other things you have to know like version control/Git, CI/CD pipelines tools, build tools and on and on that constantly change in the profession. I am just trying to paint an accurate picture of what it takes to do the job...again, if you have the mind for it ( enjoy problem solving, analytical and can endure pressure and enjoy it, go for it), as over the long haul it is likely worth it...though if you are someone just wanting to switch careers, something that has a lower learning curve might be a better option....that is probably essentially my point, be aware of the steep learning curve involved with the profession, which does discrease over time but is ever present. The other thing I would say on the down side of the job is that it is hard to 'switch off' from the day especially if you have a tricky problem you NEED to solve as your brain still tries to figure it out even if you are off the clock...so it takes a lot out of you over time.

Hey Kristin, how are you able to stay in Schengen Zone for longer than 90 days? You are living in Portugal now, right? Did you get a digital nomad visa? Was it complicated/costly to get & how long does it allow you to stay? Have any idea where you want to go when you leave Portugal?

IDK. In what parallel universe can I get these salaries, I would love to move there. The highest top paid programming language in 2022 is a little over 100k (Clojure) and the lowest are ~40/50k (Dart and PHP) - gross of course. Now deduct taxes. I'm pretty sure the other amounts are completely out of whack for the majority of either remote, hybrid or in-place workers. Also let's not mention chatGPT, Bing and yet to emerge "AI" tools, starting to replace or mutate some of these jobs in the video.
@TravelingwithKristin
@TravelingwithKristin Жыл бұрын
These salaries are realistic when you look at the median/average for each job. ChatGPT shouldn't affect any of the jobs on this list.

This is a realistic and practical list of job opportunities to make western wages remotely. Note that these are jobs for adults. You mostly need a degree or certification and/or VERY strong people skills. You need real world experience - think 10+ years before setting out on the expat road. There are jobs working with or for large established businesses. These are jobs working on teams. These are managerial jobs which is a whole different thing than being a worker bee. I live in Thailand. Let me just mention that Thailand recently introduced a 10 year long term resident (LTR) visa appealing to people just like the jobs mentioned in this video.

@@palomasarmiento5431 These are just my observations from listening to the video. I am long retired from the working world. I retired from the University of California with a generous pension. If you were to ask me then I would say pursue a traditional job with pension benefits but it is a different world today and there are nomad options not available when I was working as an engineer at a National Laboratory.

To get a high paying remote salaried job, you typically need some work experience. However you can also do some of the jobs without much experience or you can learn them from home or through working as a contractor or freelancer.

I agree almost all of the suggested fields of work require highly educated and experienced people. nothing wrong with that but if you are one of them most likely you are well connected and don't need any of these websites. What about a video for normal people without any programming skills?

I work in Accounting/Finance and accounts payable/receivable, bookkeeping Does Not pay 100k+ nowhere in the US. Maybe if you are a very high manager and super lucky. There are niche legal billing that pays more, but you need to have experience and its definitely less than 100k. And I have never seen those types of jobs remote anywhere. You have to be in US

Kristin, Some pay scales are dropping on the Business Development Management roles. Staffing agencies only want to pay 60k-65k now… Also many technology companies have had big layoffs. So less experienced people will be competing with VP/Director level players going forward especially in the US. 😊
