15. Shadow of the Colossus HD Collection - Hard Time Attack Walkthrough - Argus

Played on PS3. Please note that Wander now shakes a lot more than in the original game, so you maybe want to practice the sword jump in Gaius battle to save a lot of time. Here are the rewards for both normal and hard mode. If you want White Agro you'll have to clear normal and hard mode.
Whistling Arrow: Defeat 2 Colossi in Time Attack mode.
Cloak of Force: Defeat 4 Colossi in Time Attack mode.
Mask of Strength: Defeat 6 Colossi in Time Attack mode.
Lizard Detection Stone: Defeat 8 Colossi in Time Attack mode.
Fruit Tree Map: Defeat 10 Colossi in Time Attack mode.
Mask of Power: Defeat 12 Colossi in Time Attack mode.
Cloak of Deception: Defeat 14 Colossi in Time Attack mode.
Flash Arrow/Brown Agro: Defeat all Colossi in Time Attack mode.
Harpoon of Thunder: Defeat 2 Colossi in Hard Time Attack Mode
Sword of the Sun: Defeat 4 Colossi in Hard Time Attack Mode
Fruit Tree Map: Defeat 6 Colossi in Hard Time Attack Mode
Shaman's Cloak: Defeat 8 Colossi in Hard Time Attack Mode

If anyone is having trouble stabbing its chest, I'd recommend holding the square button when you charge the stab. Once you're charged up (doesn't have to be full charge), let go of square, then press square again to stab. For some reason, your grip seems to be way better when you hold the button. Hope this helps.

Thanks so much, this video really helped me, even though my run was really different. I actually beat down that colossi with more than 3 minutes left (I just couldn't believe it). So here is how I did : I followed the same steps than in this video and jumped on the colossi. Then I acted differently, and decided to take down his sword to begin with. I came back on his shoulder then attacked his torso : you have to be almost in the center of the vital point and hit it with small hits.

I got him! It took me about twenty tries. I got so lucky at the end; I got two consecutive clean stabs on the chest. I wish everyone out there good luck with this insane fight.

Wander defenitely shakes a lot more than he did in the original game. Trying to stab that spot on his chest is just miserable. Even when Argus stops shaking he starts stomping around everywhere and you still can't find any chance to deliver any kind of stab.

i found a trick how to strike faster and harder for the chest if you unequip the sword with down on the d pad, and then charge the attack with square it fills a lot faster meaning you can beat the symbol in almost 3 hits i would try to go for that one first because its the most Bullshit sign i have ever seen hope it helps

I accidentally fell, so I decided to take care of his hand. When it was done, I came back on him, and finished stabbing his torso with the same technique as before. Finally, I found the right spot on his head and killed him with 3:08 left on chrono. He is a tough bastard indeed, but once you find the right spots both on his chest and his head, he becomes a lot more easier than one could think. Good luck everyone, you can make it ;)

How? it took me a whole fucking hour to beat him on hard (ps3) he just wouldn't stop shaking , it literally had NO coodown between his shakes. In here he stops for a long time so you can stab him.

I gave Argus a few attempts today with no luck. But that was after I spent 4 hours doing Colossi 1-14 so I was a little tired to say the least! I did Gaius, so I'm sure I'll manage Argus, especially with the tips in the video and the comments. Thanks everyone!!!

This fight was horrible. When I was on chest he would not stop shaking meaning there was nothing I could do. I couldn't even climb to the top to regain my stamina meaning I'd have to start all over again, and do the tedious process of waiting for him to lift the tiles. It's a shame because it was actually a pretty cool fight and one of the few bad ones in an otherwise great game.

Absolutely. I had the same freaking problem every time! It's really a pain in you know where... But I discovered is more like a random event. The colossi behaves different every time you retry the battle. Is just a matter of luck

cant believe i did this on my 2nd try....The grip system in this version of the game is absolute dog shit, nothing more aggravating than slipping and losing your stab charge for absolutely no reason.

little tip, you can jump stab from the bridge on his head and nearly destroy the head sigil in 1 shot

Agree with most of you guys, there is a tiny window in which you can deliver a "poke" with your sword, otherwise he shakes you around, then he immediately starts moving during which you can't land anything on him. Adam, how in the name of christ do strike him while he's walking? I just beat this guy first time, but it took me literally an hour to do so. Over half the times I landed on his head I couldn't land a single goddamn blow. What's your secret?

Those "bones" that ends on his head could help you, legs by the bones hands on the head is a good position, every time he's trying to shake u stab him, he stops and keeps walking a little. The chest has the problem that if u dont stab him fast, he'll shake and that'll end ur stamina. The hand, u need to stab it before the shake too, but while do it so he'll walk. Tell me if u find a good position or something, good luck.

Of course, that would make the game nearly impossible, and you MIGHT be able to logic it away with the construction work on his hands making his knuckles too close together... This game was amazing on the PS2, but this port is complete bullshit. I won't say its impossible to complete, but it is much more difficult. Ridiculously so. Blue Point did a complete shit job.

This one IMO is worse than #3 because for #3 you know what you have to do it's just about executing it perfectly. #15 on the other hand is just unpredictable especially the head. Sometimes you seem to get the perfect grip and can take out the sigil quickly other teams you are screwed. That and getting stabs in on the chest can be a crap shoot as well since it's tough recovering your stamina while on top of him so you have to decide to let yourself drop or not and decide if you have time

Late anwser perhaps, but if you manage to stab (charged or not) the head weak point when it lowers it's head lightly (indicates the imminent shaking) it will cancel the shaking and leave you free for another quick stab. This aplies to some of the other colossi as well.

I would say that only applies to Argus on hard mode. Non of the other enemies qualify. I don't know if this us a factor, but I felt my Dark Souls experience helped a lot with this game. Only Argus on hard gave me a hard time.

This colossus is fucking impossible! I don't know how you managed to deliver those hits to the chest but for me i can't even deliver ONE hit there! Everytime i try he starts shaking and wander flies all over the place! Before you know it, youre out of stamina and must climb back up to rest! It's pure fucking luck if you manage to kill this one within the timeframe!
