@@omegawario7479 It’s right after the cast sound effect, for Poison Cloud it’s the long echoing sound. For Acid Cloud it sounds more like a hiss, and Death Cloud it’s incredibly low volume but there’s another hiss and sigh. You only mentioned poison but I figured pointing out the sounds in the other two might be relevant since they’re so similar in the original.

which sucks, because the spell doesn't make you invisible, makes you silent and harder to see FROM FAR AWAY. the original had the right idea executed crudely (misty aura). in high fidelity the same idea would be faint wisps of smoke obscuring your form or losing the edges around the character's silhouette. remake went "nuh-uh, you're fully transparent"

@@theblackbaron4119 Yeah it’s crazy the massive difference between these two. It’s disappointing that FromSoftware doesn’t invest in a new engine. They’ve been using the same outdated engine for feels like decades at this point, and often take the easy way out with animations by reusing a lot of them. I’m sure Elden Ring will be great, and at least they’re finally addressing performance issues, but it would have been nice to see the game feel like a brand new thing.

@@xikaryo6735 Yeah, also they cannot let go of their reoccurring gag characters. If you didn't know "Patches the unthethered" is going to be an optional boss in ER. From needs to let go and actually do something unique Instead of attempting to "replay their own tunes" for the nth time. DS3 was supposed to be a best off the previous souls games. Except they removed all interesting mechanics. Hollowing didn't matter, creating bonfires was taken out. It's embarrassing how often they come up with decent concepts and the upper management completely fails to slot enough time for development. Ds1 was half-assed , ds2 was downgraded because of console limitations and DS3 was gutted from its actually interesting mechanics. Let's hope they didn't half ass elden ring for once.

@@theblackbaron4119 Agreed with everything you said. Dark Souls 3 was literally a lazy retread of Dark Souls 1, but more linear. The level design was seriously lacking. I think it had good bosses and great OST, but it didn’t feel so good to play, it felt cheap. They tried to make it feel like Bloodborne for some reason, but it was nowhere near as good for me. They’ve yet to do something as legendary as the Tower of Latria again. Bloodborne was the only one that truly hooked me after Demon’s Souls. Even Boletaria 1-1 outclasses everything they did for Dark Souls. Anor Londo looked pretty, but I never found it interesting. I don’t think making Elden Ring open world was a good decision. Open world games tend to lack immersion, and they feel more random than anything. I played the beta. Same animations, same movement, sound design isn’t so good, boring designs for regular enemies.. Meeting a dragon used to require actual progression and work, and now it’s like oh, there’s the random dragon boss on the map. Exploration doesn’t feel rewarding in Elden Ring. Everything feels randomly placed, which is the problem I have with open world design. I’ve played so many open world games, and Elden Ring hardly feels like it’s doing anything new. The level design is part of what made the Soulsborne games special.

How’d they even convince GRRM to put that character into this world? They act like they can’t come up with a new character to take Patches’ place for the Elden Ring games. But I guess in a way, Patches is that weird mysterious character that somehow just finds a way to end up in every fantasy world FromSoftware makes, due to all the knowledge he has gathered about everything. I just don’t like that this also basically confirms Elden Ring exists in the same universe as the Souls games and Bloodborne, which already creates tons of nonsensical implications and major plot holes.

The real reason I got into the souls series in 2009 was God's Wrath (6:56.) In this incredibly realistic, medieval game where every action took stamina, being a knight was weighty and challenging. I saw gameplay and thought it was so grounded. Weapons bounced off walls. Movement was slow and methodical. Healing itself was a struggle. And it all had dull colors very uncharacteristic of a fantasy game. But then, I saw a video of someone using a miracle in this incredibly realistic world. In an invasion, a player knelt down to pray, and then a loud shockwave of invisible force destroyed every object in the room and killed both of his opponents. In a world where everything was grounded, someone broke the rules and did something no realistic knight ever could. Even rolling and blocking took valuable stamina, but this guy obliterated everything without touching it. It was fantastic. It was abstract. And I loved it. So I got Demon's Souls, and since then, everytime I play a new souls game my first character uses miracles lmao

All the new animations add so much character to everything. The only thing I wish they kept were the cloud screams. I see people saying fire in the remake doesn't sound like fire, but you gotta think, if fire were to hit something and dissipate immediately, there wouldn't be any sound, only if something actually catches fire. And I guess screams from clouds don't make any sense either. So the remake is much more immersive, and I gotta say I did enjoy this version much more than Demon's Souls when it originally came out. Bluepoint was such a good pickup for Sony

The anti magic field in the original was never used because it would always make the PS3 version drop to less than a single fps over its 4 second cast time in most levels. Also the area of effect was bigger than the particle effect. I'm pretty sure this was an emulated ps3 version.

LoL such bullshit, I was literally playing the game today and I used this spell and didn't have my fps dropped at all. Honestly I didn't experience fps dropping anywhere besides all bosses on world 2 and that's about it

I really don't like the "too perfect" sound design of the remake... It feels impactless... I found this absolutely not satisfying Edit : the graphics are mind-blowing btw

Most effects have improved in the remake. I don't mean graphically, but when it comes to their tells to the player. They have more distinct animations and plenty of them have clearer effects that the original didn't have. But I do have 2 nitpicks. Firstly, i think it's a shame that the remake removes colour of the weapon effect spells such as curse weapon and light weapon. Like yeah, they still have an effect on them in the remake, but those are far less clear. In pvp situations those clear purples, yellows and what not give you a great indicator of what someone is using. The new effects simply aren't as clear. That sucks. It could even be solved if, for example, the remake cursed weapon left behind a purple trail effect when you walk with it and swing it. The best of both worlds. My second nitpick is the removal of some sound effects. Poison, acid and death cloud have so much character in the original. The screams made it clear those spells were deadly. They really shouldn't have removed that sound. Additionally, the effects are now less clear too. In a way I like that poison cloud is now green instead of purple. But they shouldn't have made acid cloud green too. Now they are difficult to distinguish.

You should have done this comparison where there was grass in the ground. One of the best improvements made to the visuals of the spells are is that they project actual physical force out into the world. Like the grass will be blown away from the spells affects.

I don’t know where y’all are hearing these laser guns. Heck, old flame burst sounds like a star wars blaster. The new sounds sound powerful, wispy, and complex, like I would imagine magic to be.

I much prefer the audio of the cloud spells in the original. That sort of scream sound has a lot more character. Also seems very apt for something called 'Death Cloud' 😂

I'll never stop saying this, but i love how our character grunts whenever they attack or cast magic. It makes you feel like you're playing as a living person who needs to really take a breath to do something with OOMPH.

Anyone else likes the original better? The og effects seem like you poured oil in your hand and set it on fire, which in turn makes the effect blend in with the game, meanwhile remastered looks like you're using an invisible sci-fi gun, if you look at the fire on the background, it's much less wild, the spells are way too fantastical and bright.

Can you record R1->R2 ? Because in remake some weapons like katana R2 and R1 after R2 has different moveset

@@1stguard541 I recorded all the weapons that had a distinct standing, rolling, or backstep/running r1 to r2 transitions on the ps3 version. Some in the remake are added (like the katana 1h and 2h standing r1-r2 or ultra gs 2h standing r1-r2) but removed others (like all rolling and backstep/running r1-r2). If you need me to record certain ones even if they don’t have unique animations I can do so. I will email you the link in a few hours when I get off work.

I think the my biggest problem with the remake's spells is that their sound effects don't match up with the rest of the games anymore. You could cast a spell/miracle in Demon's Souls, and then its equivalent in Elden Ring, and it would have a similar sound. Feels like Bluepoint thought they "knew better" when it came to the remake, rather than respecting the original. This isn't even the worst thing about the remake, but it's a good example

Imagine playing pvp against a miracle build in the original, you could rarely even tell what spell is being casted, whether it’s a buff that you can punish, or god’s wrath.

Absolutely great graphics but I have to say I dislike the new spell sounds. The fire doesn't even sound like fire it just sounds like another spell, also the spells in ps3 demons souls sound similar to ds1 2 and 3 spells but still have their own sound but ps5 demons souls spells just sound like a pulse rifle from cod or something.

You can notice DS Remake wasn't make by FromSoft 'cause: 1) the character moans while casting 2) the sound effects are different (and even the originial ones are still used in Elden Ring) 3) The cast animations are different and there's variety

I miss the golden glow for magic/light weapon and the violet glow for curse weapon. I kind of feel like changing that effect takes away a bit of the uniqueness the game had compared to Dark Souls

a lot of the upgrades here are better in a technical sense but aren't very faithful to the og game, namely with the audio. something about the sound effects in the remake just don't do it for me, they sound overdone for what the effect actually is. same with the music, it's not bad by any means but a lot of the original atmosphere and charm of the original tracks was lost in favor of making everything epic and grandiose

All those weapon buffs in the og look like the same glow effect with different colors which is also the case in Dark Souls series so I don't see how that made DeS unique. I personally think the light weapon effects that actually lights up everything around and curse weapon blood effect that the character gets by cutting his hand makes each one much more unique and really cool to look at in the remake.

I kinda dont get why some ppl think like: Demon Souls : DeS Remake Is the same equivalent as Dark souls 3 : Elden Ring Like, the demon souls remake, well, is a remake. And it's not like elden ring is an overhaul of ds3. Plus, the animations for DeS were not of quality compared to ds3. So basically, there's little to change in ds3 animations compared to DeS. And from what I've heard, different ppl made the remake.

What you probably meant to say was that they reused the casting sounds for poison in ds1 because ds1 is a recycled asset game due to the rights they lost for demon souls.

Honestly love the Animations for Magic in Demon Souls (Admittedly more so the Remake) WAY more than the rest of the Souls Saga. It has this... Sort of nonchalant simplicity to it that just makes it feel like Magic is... just a LOT less ceremonious in the world of Demon Souls. Like the way we just TOSS UP the Homing Souls Arrow like throwing a catch ball! It's a lot more otherworldly imo... like anyone can do Magic very easily & it is commonplace ya know? More so than the rest of Souls at least.
