It's an illusion, but one that creates the right environment for you to get to where you want to be in life. Take my work in the kitchen, for example: I work at a pub, but I don't wear branded work t-shirts and the like, but instead haute-couture kitchen fatigues, including a black or checkered pillbox cap, black chef jacket, and black kitchen pants - I'm taken way more seriously and better equipped than some of my colleagues to effect my long-term agenda.

That's 100% (even if I'm working on my honesty, since being always honest in every situations isn't always a good thing). Turned like that after some verbal abuse patterns from narc (or maybe someone suffering from bpd). So far I've been victim of a smear campaign. And I'm at the devaluation stage of the relationship. Spot on! This happened to me 30 mins ago 😂. This guy I don’t know too well but have seen frequent other spots made a comment on my car as we were next to each other at the light. He said my car was “bitchin” (as in cool), but it’s literally a trashcan on wheels. He was in a 60k turbo diesel ram and had some folks with him. Our first interaction, I went up to him and shook his hand because he seemed pissed off and made a comment about wanting to fight(not to me but in general, i overheard it). I shook his hand, to let him know really I’m always ready. He’s bigger than me. So I’m sort of assuming that he’ll act cool whenever we interact, but would be the type of guy to talk behind my back. Way too common.

I’ve been told by multiple people that I intimidate folks. I don’t try to, but apparently I do. I’m told that the way I carry myself and the confidence with which I speak makes some people feel intimidated. Im trying to understand why it is people don’t like me being direct and to the point. Yup this is it for me. Infact, always has been. I remember being like a freshman in high school and one of my sister’s friends randomly said I was intimidating. Didn’t think much of it but always stuck with me. Now that I’m in my mid 20’s, I find it difficult to make connections. I go out to a bar, or the club, and it just seems like I stick out like a sore thumb. It’s a bit hard for dating. I have to force myself to be outgoing and social, but to be honest I’m not. I enjoy the connections I make with people on a deep level, but they are scarce. A bit weird, and a bit intimidating. Makes for great relationships, but they aren’t always easy to come by. A lot of women shy away. But they enjoy looking. 🤷‍♂️

Yep that’s me, only because after being bullied from childhood, I worked on loving my inner hurt self. Now I’m no pushover. Decide for myself, what I will or won’t tolerate. Even though I don't like it I do think there's something about my presence that's intimidating. I get Yes Ma'am Yes Ma'am A LOT, like damn do I look 80 or something .. just yes or no is fine. People seem uncomfortable approaching me, they will hold the door open, apologize or awkward laugh while hurry pacing when crossing me and maybe it's just in my mind but it seems like people quickly move out my way and grab their kids " Come on Timmy" or " Wait Timmy let the lady pass by" I've had random people ask me if I'm lost and I think what it all boils down to is that #1 I'm not a people person and keep to myself mostly, I generally wear either an indifferent expression or a RB face and being autistic I generally prefer to avoid eye contact with strangers and one big thing I've noticed is that people seem to be able to pick up on eye contact avoidance and it makes them uneasy 😂💁‍♀️ So lately I've been forcing myself to just glance at people in the eye at least once when passing by them and it seems to be working 😄 makes me a little less intimidating I think.

Besides people always hate the ones that can speak up and truth they cannot take. Most people go with mass because it's comfort and lie because they are afraid of being real. Society has become so infantilized. You used to have to be physically and/or verbally abusive to be considered intimidating. Now, simply having your own mind will do the trick.

I have developed the ability to observe behaviour and intention, in other words I am very sensitive to people behaviour around me and I can tell about their behaviour. This is mostly developed because I have bullied alot and I needed a way to avoid getting bullied. Ofcourse, this is something I realized after the fact, after reflected why my school life was such a miserable life. I am very honest with people because I find it very uncomfortable to lie. I would rather not saying anything or just disengage from the group conversation if I get the feeling that people do not like me being honest. I do not belive I am smart, it is just how I turned out based on my experience. Alot of the signs are secondary and branch out of being observant, being straight to the point and honest.

I fit all those characteristics, although I don't guess i really needed a list. Everyone who has ever gotten to know me well has told me they were extremely intimidated when they first met me. I've never understood why, but I've heard that all my adult life.
