It's not the difference in values that was a problem in this marriage. The problem was Brad's previous substance abuse - the brain and neuroendocrine system are rarely the same again. Then there was the drinking. It's no secret Brad spent time in rehab. Living with a person like this requires the patience of an angel. Then she thought she might lose custody of Maddox so she hooked up with vulnerable Pitt & made his life hell for 2 decades.....to clean up her image. No one remembers her wearing her 1st husbands blood on her shirt when they were married, or the vials of blood she made Billy Bob wear. 14 Million for pictures of their 1st baby went to "a unnamed charity" later turned out to be the Jolie-Pitt Foundation....a tax haven. She doesn't have a humanitarian bone in her body....she's incapable of empathy. It's all image. She used Pitt to clean up her image. After she had the twins she said she couldn't wait to get out & back in shape for Lara Croft (not that it's her body). I read once that Brad's parents loved Jennifer Anniston and were unhappy about the divorce. They maintained a relationship with her after the divorce. They would regularly have phone conversations and sometimes she would visit them. That drove Angelina crazy and she tried to put a stop to that, even though she was not much interested in spending much time with her in-laws herself. This is so true. Bras Pitt was one of the most social celebrities before Angelina, he would go out with her then wife Jennifer Aniston to every possible event, they used to travel to Europe and act like any other normal tourist not with all the fancy privileges of famous people. They were an so humble and nice people and that's why people loved them so much that even now nobody can't stop talking about them. They were the most loving couple of Hollywood. Brad was all about his family. Once he started dating Angelina I felt he lost himself somewhere, he immediately lost most of his friendships in Hollywood and he also got separated from his family. (Bc of traveling a lot) I've seen people aline with Jolie and criticize Brad but come on. Jolie is a beautiful woman and has done a lot for the world but we can't just lay aside the fact she is a control freak. The way their married ended say so much about their relationship, you can't say it's only Brad's fault. Coz the alcoholic problem and if their was more was born with in their marriage, and demanding full custody of a child is something really not cool. As a child I been in that situation and it's so full of shit. Those kids must live in a bubble. Of course they travel the world and have seen a lot but you really think it's ok for a kid to never settle? I think Brad was not having a good time, he was never opened about her relationship with Jolie unlike his marriage to Aniston. He was like her poppet, if you search for interviews of them Angelina is the one talking and Brad just nodding, like yeah... Whatever she says. A marriage works if both sides are at the same level, on par with each other and to be honest I've never felt they were.

I think the fact that they were "rules" and not mutual agreements says it all. For example, when we are single we probably all have a few crazy friends who are not healthy to carry into a marriage and depending on your priorities you may or may not limit your time with those friends to build on your relationship with your spouse. But that decision is still yours not your spouses. It's speaks volumes that someone as gorgeous rich and successful as Angelina Jolie could be so insecure. Then think about how much some ordinary folks suffer from it ... It can be devastating that is why it's so important to build people up.

I'm sorry you're ex took your kids to another state. I'm divorced from my three kids dad. My kids were 7, 11 &16 at the time. But I never talked bad about him and always made sure they could spend quality time together. I wanted to move back to Ohio where my family lives but I've stayed in Utah for my kids. Now they're 22, 26 & 31 years old. And now I can't move away from my kids because they wouldn't go with me and I can't live far away from them. I guess if they start moving I will go back to Ohio.

My second wife tried to impose unreasonable rules on me the day after the wedding while I was nursing a killer hangover from the day before..
