NFL announcers usually try to keep it professional. They try to provide more real analysis than criticism. Their job, after all, isn’t to provide comedy and jokes. These guys have to provide play-by-play and breakdowns of the action for our entertainment.
But sometimes, announcers can’t help but poke a little fun at a player. And sometimes, they really go off when a player does something really stupid. Sometimes they may go a little overboard with their criticisms, but in most cases their attacks are warranted because the players in question did something they totally deserve to get blasted for.
We’ll let you judge whether or not these criticisms were justified as we take a look at 15 times and NFL announcer ruthlessly made fun of a player.
And don't forget to leave your video ideas down in the comments below, we’re looking and we’ll give you a shout out in the video if we use it.
Don’t forget to subscribe to TPS and make sure you hit the bell and turn on our notifications and join the notification squad.

When Aikman said "this isn't college football", he wasn't referring to the "effort", as the maker of this video had misinterpreted. He was referring to the fact that you don't need to be touched when you go down for the play to end in college. Once you are down in college, the play is over, whether you are touched or not. Has nothing to do with "effort". It has to do with knowing the rules. You should really understand the context, and the rules, before you make a video about it. LOL!!!!! "Fair point, Troy. But that type of effort would be deemed inexcusable in college aswell...and in high school...and in pop warner" - TPS Incorrect. The play would be over already in college....and in high school...and in pop warner. Troy was NEVER talking about the effort. He was talking about the rules. Do it right, or don't do it at all. Hopefully you at least learn something from this mistake.

@@lordfarquad7416 What are you even trying to say? Did you have a point to make during that meaningless anecdote about practice? You act like you're the only one (out of MILLIONS and MILLIONS) that has participated in a football practice. It's your sophomoric mind, we get it. A know-it-all who knows nothing. Please try again. And this time use discretion when you speak to your superiors. You're completely clueless here. Nothing you said has any meaningful purpose in the context of this comment. Pretty big mouth for a little boy. Btw, first string. Not that I need to prove anything to a kid like you. You probably don't even understand what this comment was about. Stupid kid. Isn't it crazy how everyone else not only understands, but also agrees with what I said? That's because they understand, unlike you. Look who's laughing now, "lol cow". Pffft! LOL! You have a lot to learn, kid. Like the rules of football, reading comprehension, and how to act in society. Because you fail in all of the above...and then some.

My favorite: 1992 Patriots Radio announcer Gil Santos. "Well the Offensive Line play has led to a new QB, as Jeff Carlson enters the game. Let's see if he can throw the Pats back into this game?" Carlson mishandles the shotgun snap, and the ball slips out of his hand as he tries to throw. Gil Santos-"Yeah. This guy can't throw either."

And he once talked of the former defensive tackle Otis Sistrunk of the Raiders as being from "the University of Mars" because of his shaved head, which was unusual during the era in which the game was played.

If you watch the Pat McAfee Show on KZbin there is a video of Pat talking about this play and what happened. The ball was never supposed to be snapped the guy who was supposed to be the Center was ruled out the day before the game and Griff Whalen move from the gunner to center and took his spot. In the playbook it said if the "QB" gets under center to snap the ball. Nobody told Griff that they were not snapping it, that the play was only to catch the Pat's D in a substitution error to get 12 men on the field. It was just poor communication from the special teams coach.

McAffee explained what happened on that play. Bottom line a player got injured who was key to a play that was never supposed to be snapped. A replacement player wasn’t properly informed of the plan. Combo of miscommunication and a last minute roster change. It apparently worked flawlessly in practice every time against the scout team.

Nobody touched myers so myers could get back up and score a touchdown. You must not know the rules of college and NFL lmao. In college once you’re down your down, in the NFL you need to be touched to go down.

@@Njbear7453 since your a jets fan ill explain it slowly. The original commenter just said in college once your knee hits the ground the play is over. That is correct. How come you said they don't know the rules when they were correct. In the nfl they have to be touched before they are down.
