15 Vancouver Island Marmots released to the wild

On July 14th, we released 15 captive-bred Vancouver Marmots to 7 colonies in the Nanaimo Lakes region. This brings us to 25 marmots released so far this year, but there is still more to go! In the weeks ahead, we have marmots to translocate to Strathcona Provincial Park.
Below is video taken by Field Coordinator Kevin Gourlay as he and Veterinarian Malcolm McAdie flew the marmots from mountain to mountain. At most mountains, a field team from the Foundation or our partners at the Wilder Institute received the marmots and finished the release process. But at a couple mountains, Malcolm and Kevin had to conduct the release themselves.
