Lol, the fact that you asked him this while he worked on the first generation Tesla Roadster (which was built on a Lotus Elise chassis) is hilarious. So many of the parts he said were “easy to work on” were designed by Lotus, not including the electronic parts.
@sebione3576
@sebione3576 2 жыл бұрын
Actually, the lotus chassis had to be completely redesigned because it was not designed with electric motors or the weight of a massive battery pack in mind. The engineers at Tesla regretted using the lotus body, because it turned out to be more work to modify than building their own from scratch. There are few moving parts on an electric car. This mechanic is not lying.

What about the risk of catching fire while working on gas cars?
@Big-lron
@Big-lron 2 жыл бұрын
@@user-vf1mz1qc9v gas doesn't spontaneously combust unlike batteries witch are known for it and gas fires aren't nearly as brutal as batteries. With gas you get the initial flash if the vapors are aloud to build up witch only lasts for like half a second after that you just have an open flame that will burn at around 500 degrees and is very easy to put out or at least contain its also impossible for liquid gasoline to burn I've caught gas tanks and cans of fire plenty of times and they'll literally burn like candles. A lithium ion battery burns at about 6000 degrees they literally melt the roads underneath them when they do and they burn for hours because a chain reaction happens when the cells rupture its like the world's best Roman candle when they go off.

This is very misleading. There are dangerous voltages in EVs and hybrid cars that can hurt or even kill you. "Anyone with common sense can tear one of these apart". Yeah nevermind any training, high voltage gloves, shop manual, special tools etc. ANYONE can do it.. all you need is common sense!

Here Take this wrench and look like your doing something so when I take this video you can talk about how easy it is to work on the only car that you have to bring into Tesla for severe damage nice one so if you ain’t a tech you ain’t touching it lmao I’ll stick to Honda Toyota Acura and Lexus thanks

That was super lame for a promotion 😆. How do you charge a Tesla? Solar 😆 oh diesel and coal . Can any state support charging every car,no ??? Let's see cold weather driving and staying out in below zero temperatures. Electric cars are far worse on the environment 😕

Any mechanically inclined person can work on steering/suspension, chassis, drivetrain components etc….true…but rarely anyone could work on the brains of these new electric vehicles.

So basically your entire career is over. No oil change, no alternator to pumps basically nothing to fix. Just suspension and brakes, not all mechanics are dumb but this one is. Say goodbye to your future and income.

I took apart my 96 tahoe when I was 15-16 it ain't hard putting shit back together is a completely different story bolt holes never line up and shit just don't where you need it to go but ya I doubt 15yrs this has to be one of the dumbest things I've heard from a "mechanic"

Electric cars have less mechanical moving components which means less things to wear out and need replacement. Also if possible plz avoid hybrid vehicles as it just means more money for maintenance in the future. Hybrid means you now have all the components of a Electric vehicle and all the components of a gas vehicle plus components that make the two sets of components work together. Hybrid was a an okay idea up until fully Electric came on the market. Go one way or the other bc trying to get the best of both worlds will just end up really costing you in the future.

I want sixty thousand dollar toy I can drive to work and back. They brag about torque and excelleration but most people who own them drive slow to stretch their mileage. I risked my life in Desert Storm to secure the oil industry and I will burn every damn drop of gas I can for the rest of my life.

Its a remote control car, only a life size one and people pay a lot of money for it. an internal combustion engine is more complicated than a backward and forward RC engine with a $60K Dollar ipad in the car.

My questions are, first I read that there is only enough nichole in the world to last about ten years. Can they make the batteries without nichole? Next question our grid is broken now so what's tens of millions of cars charging going to do to the grid. Next question most of the power in the US. Is made from coal so aren't you doing more harm than good. I read that it is extremely difficult and dangerouse to recycle lithium batteries and they are already pileing up, what are we goona do about that. How do you charge your car to go to work if power is down in your neighborhood.

I think you need a bit more than just common sense, to maintain a Tesla. The battery packs have around 400 volts power and if handled incorrectly could easily electrocute an untrained enthusiast..
