My grandfather became an Eagle Scout on his 12th birthday, which was also his first day of eligibility to become a boy scout. This is because his three older cousins preceded him and he completed all the requirements for every badge needed to achieve each rank including Eagle as they did and it helped that his uncle was scout master so he directly mentored him and all before turning 12. it took him about two years though there were far fewer badges in those days. That was 1919. I'm guessing that she probably did something like that. There are 135 merit badges. I assume that the boy scouts still permit prospective members to earn boy scout merit badges by fulfilling requirements before officially joining. A friend of mine has a son who was a cub scout for three years, completed all cub scout requirements in the first year, and had prior to officially being promoted to boy scout had earned over 40 badges. It is rare but this is sometimes done by over achieving scouts.

Nor can you earn Cub Scout ranks outside your age: 1st grade for Tiger, 2nd for Wolf etc. Further, how did she meet the leadership requirements for each rank after 1st Class? 1919 was only 9 years after the program was introduced in the US and the formalities were nowhere near complete.

@@CRYOJOHN I think if you are creative and ambitious you can do a lot of the work before hand but just can't submit it until you officially join. My nephew was in the 8th grade when he began college level work. He was 13 and audited some college courses without officially registering and completed the English and algebra work then registered for classes at 14, the minimum age in that college and the professor having already seen his work marked down all the grades and gave him an A first day of school. I know it's not precisely the same thing but it's the same concept. Doing much of the work in advance is the only way I can think of that she could have fulfilled all the requirements in such a short period of time. When I joined at 12 I had already been a stamp collector for four years and on the first day I read up on the requirements to get the stamp collecting badge and and already completed most of that so I approached my scout leader and told them and so they had me do a presentation the next meeting and I got my first badge just like that. I didn't get a lot of other badges but that one was an easy one. The other easy one was knot tying since my Dad had been a sailor and taught me dozens of knots by then. So two meetings later I had my knot tying badge after demonstrating all the knots. I got my wildlife badge next followed by first aid and orienteering by summer. It was down hill after that because few others interested me all that much. That was Spring /summer 1972.

As an Eagle personally, I can say with 100% certainty that requirements were ignored/skirted/cut whatever term you want to use. the time requirements for ranks alone mean that she should NOT be an eagle this quickly, and to earn 137 merit badges in 1 year means she was non-stop cranking out 3 a week which if you ask any scout who did this legitimately, they will tell you thats just not possible. Certain merit badges like physical fitness have individual time requirements. This was for clout and politics and nothing more. To be eagle in a year implies you reached the ranks of Scout, tenderfoot, second class, first class, and star within day 1 of joining and then on day 365 had 100% of eagle requirements including your scheduled board of review and court of honor completed. It took me a dedicated year to go from Life rank to eagle and I was active in scouting from age 6 to 18. It was literally my life as I had no other extracurricular activities growing up. Theres a reason earning 137 badges is so rare. I had maybe 35-40 in the time I crossed over from cubscouts at age 10 to my eagle board of review at 18. She cheated. zero questions about it. A scout is honest and there's no way you honestly did this in a year. Fudging requirements is something I've come to expect from Girlscouts. no surprise this crud is now being pulled in Scouting BSA. Adding Girls was fantastic because theres no program like BSA for girls in this country and The GSA is a horrid program riddled with sexism and politics (Try being a single father in girlscouts. You aren't allowed to camp within 500ft of your daughter for "Safety concerns" for the other girls basically presuming all men are r*pists). This is what i was afraid of when they announced it. a few bad apples would look at the program as nothing more than a clout race (likely under the guise of misused feminism) where the merit of achievements is questionable and the reasoning behind her achievement was for clout and nothing more, and that is the antithesis of what makes a good Scout. Honesty and honor. One of the most common scout songs used at meetings and camping (to the tune of o christmas tree) includes the lyrics "Have I kept my honor bright, can I guilt-less sleep tonight?" And I would be hardpressed to believe this young lady can. I encourage all youth to give scouting a try, but "scouts" like this, female or male, make my blood boil.

And they managed to win every single game because the adult counselor’s decided to help them. So yes, it has an affect

As someone who is currently a Girl Scout. I would like to say we do not have badges just about being in the kitchen. We do a lot of things, we have options to go abroad or out of state, go to national conventions, work as a CIT at camp, earn scholarships for college, and summer camp. For example the cadette level(6th-8th grade) there is this thing called Cadette Summit where girls can pick a wide variety of activities at camp, from zip-lining to canoeing, and hangout with girls their age. Also at summer camp you can take trips to amusement parks or the stables.

I got my Eagle Scout about almost 12 years ago and the fact that she said the kitchen it made me wonder like this she even really try or was she one of those girls that just didn't fit in with the Girl Scout motto so she just wanted to go and do the boys stuff because I do get the sense that the Girl Scouts can be a bit weak at times when it comes to rigorous activities maybe that's her chapter but when you start saying that girls are allowed into a historically all-male institution to where you're trying to teach boys into being men that can really damage the whole idea of the experience for young men for decades.
