Here are 7 tips that will help your Scout rank up faster through the Scouting program. The statistics show that if your Scout can earn the First Class Rank within 1 year to 18 months, the chance of them earning their Eagle Rank jumps tremendously. This video takes you through which Merit Badge to start first and what requirements to concentrate on when your Scout first joins. There are tips on how to protect the Scout's important documents including their Scout BSA Handbook.

This is all very good advice! The title of your video is what initially concerned me, though. I've never been one to encourage Scouts to "earn their Eagle rank faster." But honestly, your content is spot on, making a title such as "How to Keep Moving Toward Eagle" or "How to Keep From Slowing Yourself Down in Scouting Advancement" maybe even better! Thanks for doing this! - Registered adult volunteer since 1968, current council commissioner...

Thanks so much for watching and commenting. I too am one who would prefer the Scout enjoy the journey, but I've also witness so many Scouts floundering 2 - 2 1/2 years and still have not achieved the rank of First Class, then once they are 15, 16 years old - High School activities get in the way. I'm hoping the video helps guide parents and leaders through some pitfalls that they may not be aware of. I bet you have a wealth of knowledge being in Scouting since 1968 ... that's AWESOME! Thanks again for your input.

Hi! Fellow Eagle Scout here! I am not all for earning the Eagle Rank fast per se at the same time I get the message as in there are so many scouts, including me, who have waited so long before doing anything and most of us barely make it. I am against earning the rank just for a resume boost or just to complete it. The scouting program is such an important and in my opinion, a very sacred thing as it helps people, children, learn to develop into good, healthy human beings. The Eagle Scout rank is such an honor and treating it as just something to accomplish for a boost in recognition is, to me, a very disrespectful thing to do. You earn your Eagle Scout for your hard work and dedication and the type of person who spreads kindness and service to the community, nation, world, and society…. Not to get into college or brag about it. I am very honored and grateful to earn my Eagle rank and even more grateful to even be introduced to scouting and have the opportunity to grow from someone who was shy and abused as a child into someone who loves life, people, and everything within it. I wouldn’t have done that without my friends, family, and some of my peers including adult leaders who have encouraged me and taught me about what scouting is all about.

This is so well said! TOTALLY agree! This video is for those who really don’t understand the commitment it takes! I’m so honored to be at every Eagle Court of Honor I attend! Each Scout should be recognized for all the hard work they have accomplished & recognizing that they did not do it alone. I do feel you don’t have to earn your Eagle to become a productive citizen in our society. It’s such a great youth program that I hope eventually can be labeled as such & not just a great “boy” program. Of course that’s for another discussion! Congratulations on earning your Eagle - “Once an Eagle always an Eagle!” Thank you for your commitment & taking the time to watch!

I love this video and how it is educational and promotes diversity and inclusion as in service isn’t regulated by gender, age, or anything else!

Thank you for your comment, I hope those involved in Scouting & the general public will realize it’s a great program for ALL youth, not just boys. Thanks for watching.

Hi Hannah. Thanks for the suggestion. What specific questions would you like answered? I'd be happy to do a video on the uniform.

They should just make one Scout Handbook and have pictures of both boys and girls.

I was a scout and a Beaver leader and enjoyed it a lot, so sad that woman can’t see it in their heart to leave a small space to men and boys to be together, a situation that is so sadly missing and that woman seem unable be willing to let happen. The books are the same you say except the pictures, I haven’t looked thru them but take that to mean there is pictures of girls and boys in the Boy Scouts manual but just Girls in the Girl Scout manual, am I right? I probably would have shut my mouth but after a year there is only 15 comments on the video so I guess BSA has lost it’s way and significance so probably not many left to offend with a little honesty. I won’t subject my grandsons to the woke Ideology.

@GregSheffer Thanks for commenting! Actually, the boys are still separate & have their own individual Troops. The girls are also separate and have their own Troop & individual meetings. So as far as the Boys organization nothing has change. Although there is a dynamic when it comes to Camporee. They can & do compete against each other. You are correct, I meant all the requirements are the same for the girls listed in the Girl’s handbook as it is in the boy’s handbook. They just replaced the pictures with girls doing the activities. I will add that the difference in the official Girl Scout of America program & the new Scouts BSA Program is the girls are now included in learning “leadership skills” - something I did NOT experience growing up with the “Girl Scouts of America” program! Thanks again for your time!

Interesting! Thanks for sharing! I’m curious… How do they earn their “Eagle?” Which is the highest honor in the United States’ for earning all the specific accomplishments (ranks & Merit Badges). I know in Britain they are called Kings-follow whoever is head of the Monarch. It used to be “Queen.”

It wouldn't have more integrated handbook be better? Kind of seems to me that they're "separate but equal" why segregate the handbook instead of having photos of boys and girls interacting together in the same book?

You make a valid point. If you think about it, they probably didn’t have many “natural” coed pictures to work with, since girls started in Boy Scouts in February of 2019. Now that girls have been involved in Boy Scouts for 5 years, maybe we’ll see a new edition coming out as one book with both boys & girls co-mingling. It will be interesting to watch and see how long that takes. Thanks for watching & commenting, please share the channel.

Thanks for commenting. If we keep sight of the big picture & adults take advantage of the training opportunities, the BSA can build back to what it once was. Respect in the community. Thanks again.
