Getting out of school early doesn’t have anything to do with it. I used to get out of school early but I either went home or went to my part-time job. Parents don't know how to be parents, laws and schools pretty much have parents' hands tied when it comes to disciplining their sons and daughters. I've witnessed kids assault their parents in the school with no consequences but let a parent go hands on their kid they're arrested. But then they want to ask, where are the parents. Not to mention the fact that the D.O.E. fought and lobbied for years to eliminate Police presence from the public school system. Schools no longer reprimand students for bad behavior. When students' numbers drop, so does the schools funding. The system has been failing our youth for years and must change. 🤦🤯

His proposed solutions are not solutions at all. "Keep the kids in school longer and place more cops around schools so kids can get to from home to school and vice-versa safely." We have places like those for kids like these... prisons!

Marriage and 2 parent homes is an aspect i guess ...but not all 2 parent homes are effective .. there are children in abusive homes ... im leaning more towards the programming that is being spread out throughout the u.s and on social media and in music ... Its programming ...

There’s plenty to do, they either don’t know about it, can’t get involved because of family dynamics, or simply aren’t interested. 15? 17? They could be working. They could be in after school programs. They can be interning. Their school is one of the best places to access these resources, but if they can’t, then they can check their libraries, community centers, or go to nyc.gov.

IT is parents not teaching right from wrong, not teaching that actions have consequences, and setting boundaries. It is a culture that thinks marriage is just a piece of paper, that the village IS responsible and that a parent should be a child's friend instead of their parent.
