Hello everyone! I’m Sumi Yu from Korea Now.
Today, Korea Now met this 15-year-old Myanmar refugee girl Wan Yi-hwa, who is pursuing her dream as a singer in Korea.
After Yi-hwa’s father’s sudden death, Yi-hwa came to Korea with her mother and two brothers in 2016 to get away from conflicts in Myanmar.
Before coming to Korea, Yi-hwa already had a dream to be a singer as she was influenced by her father who was a famous singer among the Karen people.
Yi-hwa didn’t stop pursuing her dream to be a singer even after getting asylum from Korea, and her dream has fueled further after meeting her vocal trainer/manager Lee Kyung-ja at a singing contest in 2018.
Yi-wha became famous after appearing on a trot-singing competition program this year, and now she sings for the spring in her motherland, Myanmar.
Now, Yi-hwa dreams of being a singer who connects Korea and Myanmar.
Hope you guys like her story.
