Wow. I would have liked to have seen the double cut done (I just love that carve!), but the process would have been the same. Cool video 👍

2:49 how did it go from this to that?

@StillLifeYoga I bet you didn't know I could carve a top that fast... lol! Nice Singlecut.

Looks like the top wood has a slight angle to match the neck pocket for string height? Building a PRS style guitar soon, seems like a nice design.

Seeing these monster bits taking away chunks of wood in one pass makes me want to throw my 3 hp diy cnc in the garbage

I don't know about that! BTW.... Do you ever visit Robert Baker's guitar channel, Robert Barker...?

Does anybody know what the maple top's initial thickness is? Final thickness at the body's edge? Seems to me it is 3/4" and 1/4"
@Almost_Baked3 жыл бұрын
The guitar body is sitting in a recess that is holding it in so you can’t see the total thickness. I would get the mahogany back is somewhere around 1.5 inches with a 1/4 inch maple top.
@sambracken33253 жыл бұрын
You are correct. It’s 3/4 high- 1/4 low to accomodate the faux binding

do they realy use big face mill's for wood? cool didnt know
@brucebennett80734 жыл бұрын
Those type of bits stay sharp for a very long time, and sometimes you need to make a very large dead flat surface on the wood. and the larger the tool the faster you can cut with less probability of tear out, which is the bain of all CNC operations when using figured woods

What is the brand of the machine ???
@wernerautomation28345 жыл бұрын
its an old fadal vmc (assuming they haven't changed anything since the tour video)
@brucebennett80734 жыл бұрын
based on the tool changer and table size I would say that was a Fadal 4020. but i could be wrong.

Great video. Thanks! Where can I buy one of these machines? What brand is it?
@justincase91733 жыл бұрын
its a POS fadal 4020....dont waste your money. be better off buying a Haas. fadals are hard to get parts for and constantly break down. Hell id buy a good cnc router before one of those. I setup CNC for 20yrs.

Also slow as hell, i cut steel at a faster feed rate than that and I've been programming and running cnc machines for over 30 years

haha....$5000 guitar made on a junky worn out old fadal 4020 missing the crashed back way cover. Bet its got a monochrome screen too. PRS is making money hand over fist if his shop is filled with this junk. hilarious...guitar is worth more than the machine
