We love you deeply and we are grateful for you and how much you have helped us love skincare not because we hate our skin but because we love it and we want it to have its best and gentle care for its own needs. Keep up with the amazing work. I hope that this hard time for you ends soon and I hope that you can heal gently. I love you big sister. Thanks for always keeping it real

Just commenting to show love for you and your channel! I first started watching you in 2014 when my acne was the worst. To quote my dermatologist- my face was “horrendous”. The emotional/physical pain it caused me was detrimental in almost every aspect of my life. I’ve always suffered from acne, but I didn’t think I’d still be suffering at 30! Granted it’s not as bad as it was, but hearing you talk about your journey always makes me get a lump in my throat, and I’m holding back tears because I know what you mean about being thankful for pimples.. and the scars! It causes us to look outside ourselves at what really matters, and it’s the impact we make in the world when we don’t let our textured skin hold us back. Thank you for your positivity and clean skin tips!

I have the new Purple Protector. I ordered it the second I finished your video and I am super happy!! It is very close finish to the hyla watery sun gel. That coupon code made it easy to make the jump 🥰 As you talk about retinol, I remembered that you gave me the confidence to start using the dermalogica clearing oil nightly prior to seeing a derm for the first time in a long time next month.

I'm 21 and I'm completely re-vamping my skincare routine because my depression and ADHD is getting much better (I have a new doctor who got me onto new meds that actually work and are covered by my insurance, thank goodness! If you're in Orlando Florida Dr.Kahn is THE BEST!!!), so I now can actually keep up with a skincare routine and stay consistent. Which is something I have not felt mentally capable of for years because after work my brain was just FRIED and couldn't deal with anything else. So I'm watching all of your videos about ingredients and looking for the science (my mom went to school for engineering and I read psychology studies for fun so whenever you say to follow the science I get excited and so insanely happy) and creating a new routine. I just wanted to say thank you so much for making these videos, and even though my acne is minimal it's still something outwardly that I can do that shows my inner journey with self-care and mental health, which means so much more than I can put into words. Sorry, that was definitely a run-on sentence but I don't feel like going back and fixing it. Lmao. Anyways, if anyone is reading this: you are not alone, and things will get better. I'm only now realizing because I am doing all of my daily routines that I haven't been washing my face every night for years now - it's been at most every other night because my brain quite literally couldn't be present enough for me to have a proper routine. The goal in life is always progress not perfection, and even if all you did today was the necessities to stay alive, you're doing amazing. Keep it up, and remember that you are enough and the only person you have to appease is yourself. You are a friend - be kind to them (yourself), give them grace and acceptance, and in the words of Dory "just keep swimming". You got this!

That was a lovely video. I actually finally JUST discovered how to treat my skin. My issue was dead skin build-up that wouldn't get off my face. Making my face all rough if I wasn't REALLY on top of cleansing a shitload and lightly exfoliating daily, chemically and physically. Then I discovered from a small section of a Dr Dray video I watched the other day about double cleansing, that oil cleansers just MELTS that dead skin away! the glue bonds holding the dead skin together, just instantly gone. Incredible. Cut down on so much of my routine. I had never gone across this method before, because there's no videos directly on what I had, which isn't some condition that requires other treatment. Still curious about this whole retinol thing. I'll just see how my skin goes with this oil-cleanse change.

My hormonal cystic acne was sooooo bad. It started when I was 20 years old and I wasn’t able to achieve the skin I have now until this year at age 33. I have one pimple of my entire face and it showed up two days ago and is already healing and getting smaller and I did nothing to it but left it alone. My skin is clear and my tone is even. I have a very simple skincare routine with one active ingredient: tretinoin. I look into the mirror and I don’t even recognize the person staring back at me. The depression and the anxiety I experienced throughout my 20’s because of my acne was devastating but I’m ready to start a new chapter in my life.

The best thing I did was to put the drug store products down and see a dermatologist. I wish I had done Accutane years earlier. Antibiotics made me vomit also. Once Accutane got rid of the cysts and calmed it all down, birth control pills, tretinoin, and benzoyl peroxide kept everything under control. Keep all the good work going! 😊

acne is often a lifelong concern, especially cycstic, due to how hard it is to treat (and scars so easily). i have hope, but that hope doesn't lie in hardcore treatments that can harm/damage your liver or kidneys. figuring out what works best is always a challenge, and whether it's a long term solution is always a concern. i'm stil working that angle, as well as treatment for scars that aren't melasmic, but pale/white. i cannot use benzoyl peroxide due to it burning my skin (pain), so i have a sulfacetamide wash i was prescribed for night use. that works well and is an option if someone is sensitive/reactive to benzoyl peroxide.

I’m 60 and had acne on and off through high school and into my 30’s when a dermatologist put me on Accutane. Truthfully, the side effects and the mental fall out from that was possibly worse than the acne. Looking back, and knowing what I know now, I wasn’t given any guidelines to avoid the irritation and dryness. The Accutane did clear up my skin but I wish I would have been offered a topical like tretinoin and been given the proper way to apply it to avoid the irritation as much as possible.

@cheekyb71 Thank you, I hope so too! I find it strange that skincare seems to be seen as a feminine thing to do when all you're doing is simply taking care of yourself. I find it relaxing at times, I'm in my last year of school and stress is going to be present, especially when exams start to creep around the corner, so doing these little massages and whatnot is rather calming and helpful in more ways than one!

I came here to ask that Cassandra show more men in her videos. I'm 55 and have struggled with acne off and on since I was 12, but my adult son does, too. He's a modern man and, outwardly, says he isn't bothered by content that shows mostly girls, but I'm sure he'd feel better about channels that include people like him.
@algis8182
@algis8182 10 ай бұрын
@PrairieDawnC I would also love it if men were included in these videos! Acne truly doesn't discriminate when it comes to who gets it, but chances are, guys tend to have it worse, I'm not a derm or anything but I feel like some recommendations that work for women's skin might not do as well on men...
@algis8182
@algis8182 10 ай бұрын
@PrairieDawnC Either way, the core issue of where acne comes from, what possibly worsens it or gets rid of seems to be more or less the same, it varies from person to person, which is so annoying but that's the beauty of being unique. I hope your son also finds a way to clear up his skin too!

At this point in my life I am absolutely terrified to use a retinoid. I’ve tried it before and it’s always the same result. For months and months I get acne and it gets worse and worse. Last time it was the Inkey list retinol. While I loved my skin immediately after and the morning after the acne was just unbearable and it was for much longer time to be considered purging and it was cystic. I used it right. I started it once a week for 2 weeks, then twice, then every other day and it was very bad every time I switched to a more frequent use. It did not dry me out and I did not have redness but that acne just got worse and worse. At this point my skin is ok breaking out here and there but better than before. I do have quite a bit of scaring and hyperpigmentation but idk anymore I feel a have the guts to try and destroy my skin again….

Be careful with tretinoin if your skin barrier is compromised. Otherwise it can ruin your skin for a while

I’m 62 and still get pimples! And some seriously ugly ones sometimes. I started a B12 supplement and seem to be breaking out more. Is it related?

Cassandra I have been trying so hard to get my skin better and I work with children and they are so fucking brutal sometimes. They don't mean to me, they're only curious but I wish I could wave a magic wand and have clear skin. I want it so badly. It was just I was in a place before where my skin was doing okay, I could go out without makeup but ever since starting working with children it has gotten so much worse. I think it is a combination of stress, germs from being with children and hormones. I've tried so many things at this point I just want to rip my skin off sometimes. I feel like I was doing so well before I started this job. I wish parents taught their children not to be fucking brutal sometimes.

I used to be happy to get a sunburn on my face because my skin would clear up a lot for a few days and therefore would intentionally not wear spf. 😩

Ceramides are sooooooooooo STICKY. Even K-Beauty is sticky. Most Serums are sticky. It sucks to need them during the day...but I do. So...all day with STICKY FACE. I don't care if my face is tacky at night. Barrier Creams...not quite as sticky.
