Echo, if you want the 'undiscovered' tiles revealed you can build ladders under and above it and command a dupe to cross it. Should work...

You know one of the best parts about bring Frostproof? Being able to have a dupe wear whatever they want! The purple polyester is classic for a reason! “Never be afraid to change your plans.” Man, now there’s a lesson this game really forces people to learn lol. Flexibility, adaptability, persistence. Oh, and appreciation for the finer things in life, which is to say: Sweepy is heckin adorable. (the tl;dr below lol) imo, Sweepy is a perfect example of ONI charm. Sure, you could have yet another automated machine do the job, and sure, we would use it sometimes. But look at that cute little buddy!! There are base builders and factory builders and management sims coming out our ears, but Klei literally made part of the automation absolutely adorable. And that’s to say nothing of critters, of course. Resource production aside, they’re a huge sink for dupe labour - ranching can only be done by a dupe, after all, and that includes shearing, grooming, milking... But you’re damn right I’m gonna have pips wandering my halls and shine buggies lighting up my rooms, and big bammiess heating up the base I’m trying desperately to keep cold lol.

For my Icey needs in my frost colony, I use Gulp Fish in a diamond tank. Polluted water is constantly pumped in from the 2 cool slush gysers on my map coming in at -10 to -15 C, the Gulp Fish convert the polluted water into normal water which flash freezes to ice which feeds all my ALVEO Vera plants.

>5:30 It's not the 90% uptime that makes the AT not keep up, it's the temperature of the steam around 250. With all 5 outputs working steam turbines dump too much excess heat when steam is at 250°. If you add another 5 turbines that turn on only above 200°, and then add another AT in series with the existing one, you will have both extra power and no wasted heat.

Hey Echo. Around the 13:00 - 15:00 mark, where you are talking about the 3 geo vents... Something you might think about is automation for returning water into the steam chamber when it has low pressure and/or high temps. Because if your steam is over 200 C, you want that 95C water to go back in to help cool it down slightly so you use less power cooling the steam turbines. You also want to get rid of steam pressure when it's too high, because the vents can stifle from overpressure. So, those two automation items combined will open/close the liquid vent and let the 95C water either drop into the steam chamber or continue past the liquid vent to the geothermal heat pump. Another thing you can do is place airflow or mesh tiles above/around the geo vents to limit the debris field size when it spits out all the materials. Since it's all automated, this may save you some materials or make it look a little more organized.
@KaedysKor
@KaedysKor Ай бұрын
...did you even watch the episode? Literally 90% of the time he's spent on the geovent rooms is getting the automated properly to dump steam turbine output back into the room if it's low on pressure or high on temp. He also put "lids" on the vents to reduce the debris spray.

the open door ranches for the seals could create problems since seals moving out may trigger delivery duties. this is not to mention that overcrowding will be a problem when they enter. you could opt for a single open door ranch, this could be an infinite ranch type. you only need a ranch to apply the groomed status effect, nothing else here.

Some cheasy math for the next time you calculate your cooling loops. The specific heat capacity is basically all we care about in this case. At 1.0, thats 1 DTU per g per degree C. So a full gas pipe can do 1000G and a regulator will remove 14 degree C, so your loop will remove 14000 DTUs per loop. A poor thermal conductivity may inhibit all of that heat removed, but a large loop makes it not worth worrying about.
@KaedysKor
@KaedysKor Ай бұрын
Ya, it's a good rule of thumb. The only thing that conductivity does is limit how much heat the coolant can draw from the environment per pipe segment. The raw maximum cooling potential of any aquatuner setup is 14 * 10 * THC in kDTUs/s, and of a thermo regulator 14 * 1 * THC in kDTUs/s. For a Nector aquatuner setup, that's 574 kDTU/s, and for a hydrogen regulator setup, that's 33.6 kDTUs/s. That's the absolute maximum amount those setups can cool, full stop.

The trouble with doing that is that the peak sunlight hours are only for a third of the cycle. Either side of those hours the light waxes or wanes, and gives no light at all at night. Hey This new update is so cool that i watched another yt series. In that there was a sentence that threw me in a rabit hole: it was that he dont want his geo vent room above 200°C and i thought (coz of my knowledge i got watching you for more than i think almost 2 years) no no why dont make it 250°C? but more than 1 time he said taht it is more efficient to hold the temp lower almost under 200°C and that startet the rabit hole for me of searching the internet about math and steamturbines. short if u have a problem cooling the steam turbins lower the temp. if the room is hotter yes u get more power from each turbin but the amount of more cooling needed makes it less efficient. i dont know haw it is in every setup (i just dig down the hole 2 to 3 hours) but i thought to say that to you because of the maybe existing problem. Maybe you can adapt it or maybe even better give me, ones again, a lesson why i am wrong. Eather way i like to hear about it as always I love your videos even if i dont comment every episode but ones i a while i have something to say. Thank you.

@nommy8599
@nommy8599 2 ай бұрын
@@pyroman7196 They might not like the way it was said because it's speaking in absolutes which has subtle but serious consequences: Speaking in absolutes refers to making broad, definitive statements that leave no room for exceptions or nuance, often using words like always, never, everyone, or nobody. For example, saying "You always do this" or "This never works." It’s problematic for several reasons: 1. Inaccuracy: Absolutes often ignore nuance or exceptions, which can lead to overly simplistic or inaccurate conclusions. The complexity of most situations means that "always" and "never" statements rarely hold true. 2. Stifles Discussion: Speaking in absolutes can shut down productive conversations because it leaves no room for alternative perspectives or compromise. This can prevent constructive dialogue and mutual understanding. 3. Creates Conflict: Absolutes tend to feel accusatory or exaggerated, making others feel defensive or misunderstood. This escalates conflict rather than fostering cooperation or problem-solving. 4. Impaired Fluid Thinking: When you think or speak in absolutes, it reinforces rigid, black-and-white thinking. This makes it harder to see complexities or to adapt your thinking to new information. A rigid mindset limits growth and understanding. 5. Decreased Empathy and Understanding of Differences: Using absolutes to describe others makes it harder to understand and appreciate people who are different. If you think "They always act this way," you limit your ability to see nuance or empathize with their experiences. This can lead to division and misunderstanding between people or groups. 6. Encourages Confirmation Bias: Absolutes can trap someone in confirmation bias, where they only pay attention to information that supports their belief and ignore anything that contradicts it. This limits critical thinking and keeps people from being open to change or new ideas. 7. Hinders Problem-Solving: Fluid thinking is essential for creative and effective problem-solving. Absolutes prevent this by restricting flexibility and adaptability, leading to a narrow mindset that struggles to handle complex challenges or explore innovative solutions. 8. Impacts on Relationships and Society: When people think in absolutes and can’t understand those who are different, it impacts how relationships and societies function. This lack of understanding can lead to division and polarization, making it harder to collaborate, build community, or solve shared problems. In summary, speaking in absolutes reduces accuracy, stifles open communication, fosters conflict, and reinforces rigid, unhelpful thinking patterns. It limits empathy, encourages bias, and makes it harder to solve problems or understand people who are different. This can have a significant negative impact on personal relationships and society as a whole. - AI It's beside the point but I also don't like those notifications.
