I have an i5-8400 paired with an RX 6600 and it's a solid combo! It plays VR well and does some ultra wide gaming (older games or newer games at lower settings). I just purchased an i7 8700 for $50. Can't wait for it to come in the mail.

For $180 I just bought a Dell Vostro 3681 i5 10400 32Gb ram, 500Gb ssd + Gt1030 ddr5. I also got a Dell mouse and keyboard and Creative speakers. I think that switching from Mini Pc 3060 i5 8500t and running Batocera will bring many benefits...

It's also worth noting that there are two versions of the P1000, one with 640 Cuda cores and one with 512 Cuda cores. This looks to be the 640 Cuda core model, and it's performing similar to the one I have in Forza and Doom Eternal. In CS2, you you have to enable 3rd party apps to get the Afterburner overlay to hook. However, even though you can't see it, you can still log benchmark runs. Also, you should only do it in certain modes, so you want to be careful. You can get banned for enabling 3rds party apps in some modes, but I do all my testing on the community benchmark map, and on that my P1000 scored 145 FPS on average on low settings.

These "OLDER" PCs that are cheap right now have one problem that nobody talks about...the USE LOTS of POWER and last time I checked electrical costs aren't going down. I used to take care of hundreds of these before I retired and boy they do suck the power (and those old power supplies are not very efficient compared to the newest PCs today.

I just installed Windows 11 on a Dell Optiplex 5040 with a i5-6700 CPU and only 8GB RAM. The installation went fine and the system runs pretty well considering the low hardware specs. I'll be doing some upgrades (CPU, RAM, and NvME SSD) but that's beyond the scope of this comment. The trick to doing this type of WIndows 11 install is to use the ISO you download from Microsoft with the USB disk writing app Rufus. Rufus allows you to create a Windows 11 installer that ignores the 4GB RAM limit, TPM requirement, allow a local vs. Microsoft Live account, etc. Note: I didn't buy the Optiplex to build a Windows 11 machine. I bought it to allow me to test PFSense on a small PC platform for minimal cost. I did not end up using PFSense but kept the PC for a future project. If I was buying an older PC on-purpose to build a Windows 11 machine I'd definitely get a newer one like in the video that use a i7-8700 CPU. That's a pretty capable CPU despite being over 6 years old and capable of gaming with a suitable, low-profile GPU

You should change the name of the channel to "SFF builds" 😂 I love budget build builds. SFF upgrades are very simple to do but you're limited on hardware to use

SO, that's a pretty good deal on a specked out SFF prebuilt and most of the games you used to test it were pegging the GPU at 100% which shows a major bottleneck and Fortnite at the higher settings was a stuttery mess. For all of you watching please keep in mind that even a PC like this isn't just $150 when you factor in the cost of a monitor, keyboard, mouse, cables, internet connection and you'll probably have to buy the games you want to play from someplace like Steam. All that other stuff costs money as well. It's only $150 for those who have a closet full of PC components just sitting around unused or have sponsors that send them stuff for free.

I honestly don't know what those bench scores mean? Is there a way to find out if those are good when you run a benchmark? For example, can you look them up on Google and would it better let you understand what those numbers mean? I had a question about fps in-game. Does a higher fps still matter regardless of what monitor you were using? For example. If I only have a 60hz monitor and my in-game fps is over 60hz is that still good regardless if I won't see any difference on my monitor?
@TheGameBench6 күн бұрын
If you're talking about the first two benchmarks, they're synthetics, which are nice because the tend to be very consistent and they can be a good basis of comparison. I don't really use Geekbench, but Heaven is rather old and isn't the best benchmark to use anymore. You find a lot of people using it these days, and you have to compare based on settings. Heaven has different setting, and will really affect performance, and thus scores. I would only use those numbers to compare to other benchmarks he's done on the channel... and even then, it should be taken with a grain of salt, as other components can impact the score, even though they don't weight heavily in the testing. As for in game, yes. The higher the frame rate, the less latency you have... even if your monitor is only 60Hz. Running at a higher refresh rate will feel a lot smoother, and will compound the benefits of the higher frame rate. This can be beneficial in some games, like first person shooters and any online competitive title. However, it's really as much of a benefit in single player AAA titles, as well as others. It really depends on the game.

Nice machine. Temps are high because of low rpm. You should install SpeedFan and set speed manualy of cpu and gpu before playing games. Then it will not overheat.

I have a sff that I was planning in throwing in a quadro. They are still a little pricey for what they are, but are necessary in these small builds. I want to go with nvidia for my batocera build for their opengl performance. I think the p1000 is compeeable to the t600 as long as you dont want ray tracing.

It's still a pretty solid config. It just needs a nice budget graphics card to become complete. Also if you don't like Windows 11 and all it's bullshit you might aswell give a chance to a Linux system (e.g. Pop!_OS, Linux Mint, Fedora, etc). Just don't go picking up a system for advanced users (like Arch Linux) and be aware that games that enforce the usage of invasive kernel-level anticheat won't work on Linux systems.
@basicdadtech6 күн бұрын
I’ve messed around with Linux before. Just don’t think it’s great for gaming…A better GPU like the RX 6400 would be a good fit for this PC I think.

Playing Fortnite with my friends is the only reason why I still run windows.
@jonas_bento6 күн бұрын
@@basicdadtech Well that depends on how long ago that was. I have been using Linux only for some time now and I can play whatever I want without problems. As I said before the only major caveat seems to be choosing a system that's good for you and the fact that games that demand kernel-level anticheat are a no-go.
@jonas_bento6 күн бұрын
@tomdillan That's totally understandable. And technically it would have been possible on Linux aswell if Epic allowed EAC to work with Steam's Proton compatibility layer. Other companies that allow anticheat to work with Proton have their games working on Linux. E.g. The Finals, Hunt Showdown, Once Human, etc.

For 150.... Its a great pc!!! Maybe a rtx 3050 lp would get you to its full potencial nit it would cost.more than the whole pc
@cecilb79276 күн бұрын
I believe that the RTX 3050 LP is a dual slot card, which wouldn't work in the Dell SFF form factor chassis, same with the 4060 LP. I believe that the RTX 2000 is single slot and low profile, but once again, $225 used. Unfortunately the RX 6400 and maybe the Intel Arc A310, which at $100 or so, would give decent performance in this setup, although yeah, if a dual slot card would work, then there would be some great options, even an Arc A380 would be pretty solid, as would the 3050 for a little more.
