Thanks for that wrench2317, I for one am very pleased Bennett shovel kept a record of this amazing machine, it literally move's mountains, only wish I'd seen it live, up close, and personal, but this is the next best thing, thank you Bennett shovel.

the bell means he is nearing the end of a function, when the bucket is lowered and he is cleaning the pit floor, you will hear it, this means he as neared the end of the travel on the shipper shaft that crowds the bucket into the wall. same goes for hoist when the bucket nears the top of its stroke the bell will sound. then also if the electric motors stall out the bell will sound as well, and when I say stall out when the lever is telling them to turn but they are maxed out and can't handle any more weight.

He is rough on the machine and in good time will wreck it.

So he grabs a scoop from the bottom and drops it on top, with the top eventually coming to the bottom as the bottom is scooped up.

I would imagine the operator had a great salary for this gig, undoubtedly a "Union" representing the operators. Anyone have an Idea what the Salary was for an Operator?

I'd rather the man in the cab get a good salary than some Fat Cat or stockholder who does nothing but hold a piece of paper denoting some fractional share of the company. Bought with debt for the purpose of flipping later on. Back of the line with them! Employees should be paid first. Then pensioners of the company. Then management. Then the vendors. Then the bond holders. THEN the stockholders.

You need to see some other object(s) adjacent to this monster to actually appreciate the size of it and the size of the bucket.

How were these used, what task do they do? 150 tons per scoop is a LOT of dirt or Ore.

Same thing. A yard of dirt weighs a little more than a ton on average
