Aesthetic, may be for you. But hygeinic? How is it hygeinic? Do you have any idea how much labour is required to maintain such houses. The roof often gets blown away during monsoon storms,. even otherwise it requires to be redone e every year. Please think, and not get carried away by the romantic notion of living like our ancestors. You will not survive. The gentleman who has made the video, must honestly explain how he upkeeps the buildings. He must be using labour of locals, and not doing everything on his own.Somehow, I do not see that in the years,to come labour would be easily available, since more and more people are likely to be graduates. We should move towards sustainable houses with modern technology, instead of labour intensive ancient techniques.
@itzakpoelzig330 Жыл бұрын
Do you know how much labor it takes to maintain a modern house? And let's talk about cost. When a storm blows the roof off a modern house (it happens all the time), it will cost the family's entire life savings to replace, while a roof like the one in the video can be replaced for free, without shipping harmful chemicals or exotic lumbers from all over the world.

We have lived In our childhood in mud house. My whole joint family was living together (6 families ) . Now we have made brick house but I would definitely made my house by vedic brick and vedic plaster which is radiation free and weather favorable. We still have mud house in our village but unfortunately people consider these house a quality of poorness 😢Namaste from uttarprades

These techniques must be definitely incorporated into architectural engineering. Younger generation is always willing to go back to nature. We need to provide the opportunity. Make these types of houses as resort homes in Wayanad. Let the people experience the benefits. Pros and cons due to extreme weather changes around us must also be addressed and that will make this a success. Great ancestors who have passed on these traditions to generations knowing well thst someday all of us have to look back to adopt these

U mentioned about smoke pit what is it.. its there in all drawings too.. how does it help.. u said it helps in keeping the bamboo good.. but how.. and what is cutting wood according to local methods.. is to to harvest the wood with its natural shape..just removing the bark and letting it dry..?
@ThannalNaturalHomes4 жыл бұрын
In some olden houses there are smoking pits. They use herbs like neem , lemon grass etc to smoke.Once in a month they smoke it to protect the house from insects. Hope you have noticed in hotels and tea shops kitchen, the smoke will go hit the roof and bamboo or wood will be in black in colour. This give more life to bamboo and wood members. Wood and Bamboo are cut in some special days mentioned in this video . You can read this more here thannal.com/150-year-old-natural-home-of-a-natural-farmer/

1.What is Thannal team doing presently? a)Due to the coronavirus situation, it is not possible to have a workshop on campus. We will be starting with a free video course online - the Back Home series - through which you can learn about mud construction. This course contains all aspects needed to make a home - foundation, wall, roof, plasters and flooring. b)We are releasing videos one by one, at a pace of 2-3 videos in a month. You can see links in the respective section, work in progress. Kindly go to the page ‘online Video course’. c)To get updates of ‘Back Home series’ on your phone, if you are not part of our Whatsapp group, join Thannal news whatsapp channel through this link. d)We are trying to do the series in Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi, so that more common people can also understand about such construction methods. This is our main priority work till June 2021. e)We have started with an interview series ‘Natural builders around us’ - about other natural builders all over India studied from Thannal and continue studying by themselves. See updates in our KZbin channel playlist Natural builders around us , kindly wait until and follow the upcoming videos. Link - thannal.com/useful-links/
